As a Muslim girl, I've always heard my elders telling me to wear the hijab and dress modestly. And yes, I do dress modestly and have no problems wearing the hijab in the future. I don't think Islam makes girls oppressed; rather it gave girls rights when they weren't even considered humans, when they were being buried alive. Islam considers girls gems that need protection from the wandering gaze of others. That's why it has ordered girls to cover themselves. But my demand to my elders is why aren't you telling your sons to lower there gazes? Why aren't you teaching your sons their part? Islam's rules go both ways. But I think people keep forgetting that... and it's why other religion's people think Muslim women are oppressed.

Islam is peace. But if you only follow half of it's rules there won't be peace in community.
