Ravens Valley, from a Storyteller.

I’m not here to teach (or educate) anything to anyone but only as a reminder about the benefits of nature which, has its own limits. Wilderness cleans our air, filters our water and provides home for human as well as for wildlife. So it is crucial for humanity, which is already to blame, to bring radical changes today before it’s entire extinction tomorrow. That is my only intention here folks. #MorningLurker

This is a very lucky morning lurker; a beautiful and powerful young male named JJ, for Jack Junior.

Lucky because he's experiencing all kind of situations around the house like; scratching mosquito net, emptying feeding station for smaller birds just for fun, waking me up at 5:00am with his knock knock on windows, etc…

…and animals are friends/family. What can I do?

#MigratingBirds

#MigratingBirds

In Canada, Disturbing Peace of Migrating Birds can be costly.

Daily I see many bloggers that photograph animals most of them, birds. Disturbing peace/habits of migrating birds can cost a lot in Canada.

Some bloggers are willing to go way too far to get very nice clichés of birds for their blog admirers. The ECCC who works to protect wild species in their habitats in Canada, and to make sure law is respected, have caught one of these photographers who was abusing of pre-recording bird’s song to attract them in front of his camera to get better photography. This kind of practice in Québec, Canada, is not tolerated. Birds who are resting in their nest are disturbed by the sound and at the same time are more expose to potentially predators.

This kind of bad behavior has been observed twice from that same photographer in two National Reserve Fauna Parks and the man, who plead guilty, has received a much more salty fine.

#WhiteTailedJackrabbit

Encounter with a young White-tailed Jackrabbit at sunrise this morning. These guys are nocturnal so probably he was on his way for a good night sleep.

Often people come across these bunnies in spring and mistakenly assume they are abandoned by their mothers; but they're not. The Edmonton Humane Society has issued a public statement asking people to not bring bunnies into animal shelters.

#RescueChopper

In solidarity with people affected by climate change's effects:

Once the location has been determined as not accessible by land; Rescue-Chopper is always the best solution you can get in case of emergency evac.

:Relevant footage from last year's #TheDayAfter because yes, climate "is still" changing.

#CategorizingRavens

Now I'm reposting this video because it is the perfect example of the differences between Males and Females. (Mother Raven with her 2 youngsters Males)

Why? For some sceptical people about my judgement on categorizing Ravens and specifically when naming them. Btw, most of these scepticals are not following me but their notifications are "on" for this post. Maybe I'll change their minds. And "They're like all the same" they say. No, They're Not. It is very easy when you know them (and I mean Ravens, in general).

For most birds it is quiet easy due to the different colors between Male and Female while Ravens have the same glossy black plumage with an iridescent sheen.

First, Males are taller, have larger wingspans, longer beaks and have different croaks (higher pitched sound).

While Females are everything au contraire than males. And their also way more easy to identify because year after year while incubating the eggs their feathers at the bottom of their bellies take a shapeless form of a little skirt covering slightly their legs. Which happens only during the nesting period.

Their behaviors helps a lot too. The way they walk, perch, talk, land around the house, take off; even by the way they eat and carry food. Males own a larger bills.

Some of these information can probably be found on the internet but not all. You also need to rub their shoulders long enough to learn from them. Like all of us in the Grande Vallée.

Most of all they have their own personality like dogs (if I may say). Diane has an aggressive behavior like a Stallion Horse while Jack is more like an "easy go with the flow", a "Roger Bontemps".

So anyway, that's how we identify them around here.
