Odysseus calls Eurylocus his brother in “Luck Runs Out” when he wants Eurylocus to stop questioning orders and do as he’s told and he calls the crew “my brothers” after they stab him, but Eurylocus has his own shining moment of manipulation when he calls Odysseus “Captain” again after Zeus forces Odysseus to choose between himself and the crew. Because that’s not how mutinies work.

Eurylocus took over the crew, so he’s in charge. He doesn’t get to shove that responsibility back to Odysseus just because he can’t handle the consequences of his own actions.

When you have all the power, you bear all the blame.

There’s something to be said for that Different Beast is the first time since leaving Troy that Odysseus and his crew are a united front, without any dissenting voices, only for Odysseus to betray them in the very next song.
