Sad start to school year

During this time of year, I would typically be in my school, surrounded by my students, engaging in fun activities and encouraging them to embrace a new academic year filled with hope and a passion for learning. As a school counselor, I had many plans and initiatives to guide my students toward emotional well-being.

But now, I find myself sitting in my tent, yearning for psychological support. I often reflect on how healing can come from the deep emotional scars that have touched my soul, and I can’t help but think about which of my wonderful students remain safe. The feelings of suffocation and pain weigh heavily on me.

In these moments of solitude, I realize just how much I miss the vibrant energy of my classroom and the joy of inspiring young minds. It’s a struggle to cope with the uncertainty, but I hold on to the hope that one day, I will find peace and strength again, not only for myself but for the precious lives I’ve had the privilege to touch.

this is not normal. Palestinian students the same age as me or in many cases even YOUNGER shouldn’t have to be online 24/7 advocating for their families just so they have some money to buy food and buy a tent after their old one was destroyed by a drone strike. please don’t be desensitized by this. there is an onslaught of atrocities being committed by israel every single day but we have to keep standing up for Palestinians.

the students on my dash… they’re all so young they have aspirations they have hopes. but now they need to wake up at the crack of dawn to line up at the food distribution center not knowing if there’s a sniper somewhere watching them. this is horrific

I would like to share with you the story of my brother Mohammed, who was a university student studying digital marketing. Alongside his studies, he worked in the solar energy field with my brother Hamza and our friend Bilal. Mohammed was an ambitious young man known for his willingness to help others, and he was greatly loved by his friends and family.

Unfortunately, the war has shattered all of his dreams and aspirations. Now, Mohammed finds himself waiting in long lines for water and food, trying to secure his daily needs. Despite the difficulties he faces, he still strives to help others who cannot transport water or wait in the long queues.

I am pleased to announce that we have completed our third goal, and now Mohammed is our fourth goal. I hope we can reach €20,000 as soon as possible, as we have currently raised €15,384 of our €50,000 goal.

i am writing this post on behalf of @salahmanarfamily. i have been in touch with salah for months now, and i have seen their campaign get very little traction in all this time. currently, they have only raised 5k out of 70k. their initial campaign goal of 100,000€ was lowered to 70,000€ due to the weak support, but it has not helped much.

salah and manar have two young children, youssef and nour. salah used to have a paint factory. when he first reached out to me, they had hoped to be able to rebuild in gaza despite all the destruction. since then, their situation has gotten so catastrophic that they have made the hard choice to start planning evacuation instead. but they do not have anywhere near the funds needed!

thanks to the 5,000€ collected so far, salah and manar were able to buy food for their children and get medicine for salah's epilepsy. please help support salah and manar towards a better future.
