Seungkwan is adamant. He knows what he wants and will dilligently work to earn his goals. He's never hasty with decisions and often check on the pros and cons repeatedly before acting on it. True to his friends' words, he is indeed one resolute man.

But even the strongest have weaknesses. Batman has a kryptonite— and so is he, who's now unsure whether he did the right thing for his heart's sake, for his sake.

For a moment he wished that there is a time machine to undo his hasty decisions brought by the emotions he tries so hard to keep in. But no such thing could erase his messages and a promise of song he would lovingly sing, wishing you'd hold onto the words like how you got him wrapped around your fingers.

"You're out of it again, Seungkwan. Are you drunk?" the sound of your voice brought him back to reality, following your chuckles as you tell him how long he was staring blankly at you.

"Shut up. I wasn't even able to drink with the members tonight" he retorted as he passed you a can of beer. "I pity them, though. I'm having one right now"

"I don't think one can of beer can get you drunk. If that was your plan for inviting me tonight, you failed Boo Seungkwan" you rolled your eyes at him and munched on the snacks you bought on the way to the hill.

"I wasn't planning on getting drunk. I told you we'll be stargazing" with  dismissive hand gesture, the apple of his eyes replied, "It's the first time you weren't thinking thoroughly. There are no stars. Can't you see?" For the nth time, you rolled your eyes at him and quickly changed your position. He gave you a glance as you sat beside him and rested your head on his shoulders, continuing to munch on your snacks.

For a second, he looked at the sky and saw nothing but dark clouds. But was it really the first time he didn't think through things? There are more times than that, if he would remember corre tly. Like how he skipped practice to make sure you'll get home safe or how he bailed on his trip, planned months before, with Seokmin the last minute so he can accompany you to your family dinner — but he will never tell you that. At least, not now.

He huffed. "I guess we'll be SKYgazing then." He took a sip of his own beer and let his eyes wander around. The surroundings felt like home and kind of gave him light albeit dark. This is how he pictured his future, long ago. Peace. Silence. With you.

It doesn't matter if you'll end up with someone else. He promised himself that he'd be the best friend you can always count on. He'd stay with you through thick and thin, be the best uncle your future children could ever ask for, and give you all the support you need even if he's just on the sidelines.

But, as long as no dude has the guts to take you away from him, he'd wait for a miracle— for you to magically see him from a different light and realize how your best friend is smitten and is actually head over heels in love with you. If only... if only you could see.

To fulfill his promise earlier, he started singing lines from their song imperfect love, knowing how much you loved it because it gives you feelings you can't explain.

Seungkwan didn't realize that you linked your arms with his the entire time, not until your grip tightened as the song came to an end. He wouldn't dare look at you for he knows he might kiss you right then and there because of how giddy he feels inside. "used to this.."

"What did you say?" you let go of his arms only to turn and face him. "I said, I can get used to this." You started. "You know... it's just me and you, us. Amidst the chaotic world we live in, I can only ever find peace if I'm with you. I don't mind living my life if every single day would be spent with you, Seungkwan."

The man was loss for words. His brain went haywired. Was he dreaming? Was that a confession of sort? He wished somebody would pinch him.

"I... wow. I don't know what to say" he wished he just kept his mouth closed after seeing a look of disappointment crossed over your face. If he felt bad after saying those words, he now feels worse after you gave a weak smile in return followed by you, telling him to ignore what happened. "Just forget I said a single thing" you added.

"Wait. What? No, no!" He panicked, not knowing what to do with his hands but ended up reaching over to grab yours. "Was that a confession? Do you like me more than a best friend should?" He questioned.

You gave him a confused look but anwered his questions nonetheless. "Well, yes... and yes" before you could utter another word, you were enveloped in a tight, warm hug. Him whispering how much he prayed to be in the same exact moment you are now and eventually confessing the feelings he tried to surpress.

He checked the time, 11:58, without letting you go, he muttered "I'm too shy to see your face while I tell you this... but since it is still my birthday, would you do the honor to fulfill one of my wishes, and be mine?"

On the same spot at midnight, his wish came true, sealed with a tighter hug and a sweet kiss not in haste.

a/n: i wrote this because there’s not a lot of seungkwan fics and i just need an outlet to keep my seungkwan delusions in check 🤞😋

there’s something about you that makes seungkwan just want to sit you on a beautiful throne and offer you all the love and possessions he can give you. maybe it’s the way you get flustered with every sweet thing he does, or the way you give your all in showing him the love he deserves — it’s apparently an innate desire to see you glowing with joy and love.

case in point, while he likes to act as if he were only doing it because it looked like your spine was about to deform from the weight of your bag (it really wasn’t heavy), he likes to insist on carrying your bag, especially when you’ve been adjusting its handle or strap on your shoulders. even if you do decline the offer, you’ll find yourself smiling when you feel the bag lighten a bit (it’s definitely not because of him lifting the bag from the bottom).

another thing is keeping you out of harm’s way. whether or not you’re a clumsy person, his spider senses activate as soon as you do something that may potentially harm you.

something fell under the table? he’s immediately covering your head with his hands when you crawl down to get it back.

filming the beautiful scenery? seungkwan already has his hands on your waist to keep you from bumping into people or tripping over your own feet.

but, what if you’ve already hurt yourself? he’s already on his way to fulfill his duty as your nurse… after he finishes laughing, of course.

lastly, while his job as an idol takes up most of his time, he does his absolute best to make time for you. and, during those day offs he gets to spend with you, he’s paying full attention to you! (may or may not be calling out those people who game all day when they invite their partners over).

he loves hearing you talk about your day, especially when you go into full detail like how the music you were playing was coincidentally matching a random pigeon’s stride, or even how a little pebble in your shoe somehow threw off your luck for the day.

what he loves the most though is when you sit him down on the bed to watch you try on everything you bought that day. seungkwan’s fully engrossed in the try-on haul and acts as if he was invited to paris fashion week, watching models strut down the runway. he even goes as far as acting like a photographer and going into all sorts of weird poses to “get the best angles” when you model by the doorway.

and during those days you feel as if you’re truly unworthy of the treatment he has been giving you, he’s quick to wrap you up in his arms and remind you that you deserve everything in this world and so much more than what he can offer you.

“i love you, y/n. everything i do for you is because i love you and you love me. i don’t care if you think you don’t deserve it because it’s my choice, and i believe you deserve it and so much more. you are a person worthy of unconditional love and care, i hope you will understand this. it doesn’t have to be right now, but i hope it’ll be in the near future, my love”.

he would want to give you a promise ring when he tells you that he loves you for the first time

so about a month or two into your relationship, he decides to tell you that he loves you

before he tells you, he needs to get a ring

so he went to a jewelry shop and picked out a ring design

then he got both rings engraved

both rings had both of your initials and a heart on the outside

on the inside, yours had "forever" and his had "always"

yes, very sappy, but he thought it would be cute

he wanted to give it to you in a special way

so he brought you to the place where you had your first date

had a whole speech planned, but then scrapped it last minute

you thought it was just a casual date until all of the sudden he pulled out a tiny square box

your mind automatically went to "omg he's going to propose" and then you were like "WAIT HES GOING TO PROPOSE??"

before he could even get a word in, you said, "seungcheol.. don't you think it's too early to propose?"

now that made him almost drop the box "PROPOSE? I'm not proposing! I'm giving you a promise ring!"

your mouth formed an 'o' shape

he opened the box, gently pulled your right hand up to him, and put the promise ring on one of your fingers. then he put his ring on his finger

"not that I don't like the rings, but why'd you get them?" you questioned

"I wanted to get something as a symbol of our love"

you malfunctioned again "LOVE??"

he nodded nonchalantly "yeah, love. I love you"

you folded right there "I love you too"

"and don't worry, I won't propose.. yet"

"HUH-"

he decided to get you a promise ring after noticing your eyes lighting up when you saw couples in shows giving each other promise rings

he wanted to make you happy, so got you both custom made rings

they both had the date you started dating on them

jeonghan was debating on when to give you your ring

maybe he could give them to you on your anniversary? no, he already had something else planned then

so he finally decided to give it to you on your birthday

he had wished you happy birthday when you first woke up, but then just acted like it was a normal day

until it was dinner time and he told you that he had reservations for you at this one fancy restaurant

halfway through dinner, he sneakily pulled out the box the rings were in

"love, I have something for you"

you looked up from your food to see him pulling out a ring from a box

"I got us promise rings. I hope you like it"

you gently grabbed the ring. "like it? I love it!! thank you. you know you didn't have to do this, right?"

he smiled at you, "I know, but I thought it would make you happy. which I why I got them"

he leaned in closer to you and motioned for you to move closer

"do you think if I get down on one knee and act like I'm proposing, they'll give us free food?"

"jeonghan!.. wait, that's actually smart"

"I know right"

he is the type to make it so romantic

others don't view promise rings as a big deal. him on the other hand? thinks it's huge

flowers? check. music? check. food? check. park that he rented out? check

josh would have everything planned out..

then realize he hasn't even got the rings

so now he's panicking

would rush around trying to get the perfect rings for you

picks out a ring style and then gets a heart engraved on both

randomly takes you on a date one late night

you were really confused since it was out of nowhere

when you arrived at the park, joshua was really adamant that you guys should go to this one part of the park where there's a tiny pond and trees around it

you agreed, but you were still confused because like ??

anyways when you got to that section, you saw fairy lights hanging from the trees, a bouquet of flowers laying against one of the trees, a picnic blanket and basket on the ground, and a speaker on the blanket

safe to say that you were speechless

he led you over to the blanket and sat down with you

he pulled out a little box from his pocket and pulled out one of the rings

he then handed you that ring and watched as you put it on

"it's a promise ring. I wanted to get you something related to our relationship that you could wear"

so then you start tearing up because it was just all so sweet

..but then joshua starting panicking again

"why are you crying?? did I say something wrong? do you not like the ring design? I can get us new ones"

you shook your head and told him that he didn't do anything wrong and that it was just so sweet of him to do this (and that you LOVED the ring design)

jun -

he would act nonchalant about it but on the inside, he would be freaking out

he would be thinking about what to get you for your anniversary

then the thought of getting you a promise ring would pop in his head

so he picked out a ring that he liked

he didn't get any engravings since he thought you would like it the way it was originally

jun had multiple ideas of ways to give it to you

but then he just decided to give it to you one random night

you were just laying down on your bed, scrolling on your phone

when jun walked in with a tiny bag and he handed it to you

he sat beside you on the bed and watched as you pulled out the box that had the ring

you opened it and stared at it in shock

jun held up his hand and said "it's a promise ring. I already have mine on"

you slipped the ring on your finger and admired it

"this was so sweet, thank you" you said as you hugged him

"I'm so glad you like it"

he would get the promise rings very impulsively

like he would just be scrolling on Twitter or something and then see an ad for promise rings

"y/n would like this!" he would say to himself as he's already clicking on the ad

soonyoung got the rings ordered within five minutes

before the rings arrived, he would go out and buy you a tiger plushie

because tigers plushies are a must !!

when the rings actually arrived, he laid them on the bed with the plushie

he immediately brought you to your room when you got home so you could see his gift

you probably wouldn't even notice the rings at first

you would just pick the plushie up and thank him

"what about the rings" he would ask with a frown on his face

"the WHAT" you replied

he would point to the rings which you only noticed when he pointed them out

"I didn't even see those! they're so pretty. are they promise rings?"

he nodded and said "one of them is mine and the other is yours!"

you would hand him his and put yours on

then you had a long cuddle session afterwards

he's the type to silently watch your reactions to things like that happen in shows and to couples that you see in public

so I feel like maybe one time he saw you admiring this couple that you two saw in a cafe

they were giving each other promise rings as a sign of their love

wonwoo figured that it would be a good idea to get you a promise ring

he would subtlety ask you like what your favourite ring designs are and such things like that

would order a ring with the designs that you like and an engraving with the date you started dating

would probably hide the rings in a drawer

then give it to you at the most random moment

probably when you're cuddling on the couch, watching tv

he'd just say "oh hey, I have a gift for you" and he'd get up and get it

hands it to you as you're like ??

has a small smile on his face as you open it

"I figured you'd want your own promise ring"

you quickly slide the ring on and attack him with a hug

he was caught off guard and almost fell off the couch

which caused you both to burst into laughter

that night was full of laughter, smiles, and cuddles

one of the members actually brought up the idea of him getting you a promise ring

like one day when jihoon and seungcheol were in the studio, seungcheol asked jihoon what he was going to get for your birthday

he said that he didn't know yet

so seungcheol said maybe he could get a promise ring for you

he looked into different rings

there were two specific ones that he couldn't choose between

so he just ordered both

one for each hand

jihoon invited you to the studio one day, which isn't unusual so you didn't think anything of it

when you got there, you saw a bag sitting on the small couch

"what's that" you asked, nodding your head towards it

he looked up and said "oh it's a gift for you, open it"

obviously you opened it

after you pulled out both of the tiny boxes, he said "they're promise rings. I couldn't figure out which one to get you, so I just got both.."

you literally had hearts in your eyes while looking at him

"why are you looking at me like that"

"because this is so sweet of you to do"

wanted to give it to you so badly

but he knew he had to wait until your anniversary

the rest of the day, you would just catch him staring at your ring

he would first see the ring when he was out shopping with the boys

chan would keep eyeing the ring

he didn't want to get it right then

so he went and asked one of the workers if they could hold the ring for him until he came back to buy it

they said yes, so he made a mental note to come back in a few days to get it

at home, chan kept wanting to tell you that he was going to get a promise ring for you

about a day after he got the ring, he would give it to you

"y/n! could you come here a minute? I have something to give to you!" he called to you from the living room

when you arrived, you told him, your hands behind your back, "I actually have something for you too"
