After the War and the Phyrexian Invasion, Vitu-Ghazi was weak and no longer able to sustain itself. The guildhall needed to lay semi-dormant to recover its strength, and Mat'Selesnya told Trostani that the tree needed space to lay new roots. A moor within a park on Selesnya territory was deemed the best place for Vitu-Ghazi to reconnect with the plane and properly recover. The tree was planted around a manor that was made a repository of the plane's history, including a library of Ravnican books and the original Guildpact.

[Ravnica Battlemap]Zonot Three - Navika 32x56

Deep within Vannifar's home zonot of Zonot Three lies the laboratory of Navika, the hub of the Guardian Project. Lit by bioluminescent glow, the lab was built into, or possibly grown in the shape of, an enormous nautilus shell. Even within the guild, Navika has a mysterious and slightly sinister reputation as a place where Vannifar's elite biomancers push the boundaries of the law, biology, and ethics in the name of adaptation.

Most Simic have never even seen Navika, and even fewer have been inside. The work of the Guardian Project, authorized by Prime Speaker Vannifar, is the creation of increasing numbers of sapient humanoid hybrids intended to form an army of highly evolved soldiers. Each of these hybrids is a different fusion of humanoid characteristics with a mix of traits from other species.

After Niv-Mizzet revealed that he had known about the existence of other planes, planeswalkers, and the threat of Nicol Bolas, he had Ral turn Project Lightning Bug into a beacon to call other planeswalkers to help fight Bolas. Unknown to Niv-Mizzet, this idea was implanted in his mind by a Dimir thoughtstealer, at the behest of Bolas himself.

After it was activated, the beacon appeared as bright sparkling lights in the air, pointing towards Ravnica, and it urged the planeswalkers deep in their soul to travel there. The pull of the beacon was very strong and took intense concentration to resist. However, when Bolas activated the Immortal Sun, this had the unfortunate effect of trapping the planeswalkers on Ravnica as ready targets for his Elderspell.

With their dead being planted and regrown as plant zombies, their reanimation magic has made the Golgari the largest Ravnican guild. Much like a swarm of insects, the Golgari often seem to behave more like a single organism than as a group of individuals. The whole Swarm is driven by a primal instinct to survive and reproduce.

The Scab Clan is made up of a variety of races, including minotaurs, centaurs, ogres, and goblins. Scab clan warriors despise pretentiousness and false airs. They believe that the body is the outward form of the spirit and that the more maimed the appearance, the more authentic the warrior. The Scab have engulfed or destroyed several clans in recent years, but the leader of the clan, a corpulent giant known as Narbulg Nine Fingers, has not yet designed to challenge Borborygmos or the Burning Tree.
