Sesshomaru & Kagura Parenting Headcanons

Because canon is what you make it, babey. And I’m taking Setsuna and Towa and Moroha and running.

Sesshomaru isn’t the most outwardly affectionate person, but he takes to being a father with a natural ease. He and newborn Towa have a particular bond from the very beginning. Her firecracker attitude is clear from minute one, and Sesshomaru is intrigued by it to no end. While Setsuna tends to sleep easy, Towa is a night owl, and she only tends to settle down when she’s on her papa’s chest, gumming away at one of his fingers or some of his hair. Since Sesshomaru really is only ever in bed to be next to Kagura and not because he needs sleep, he tends to spend most nights lost in watching Towa go through her motions.

Towa and Setsuna are a classic blend of their parents. Towa has Sesshomaru’s hair with Kagura’s eyes and personality. Setsuna is quiet and calculating like her father, with her mother’s darker hair and affinity for the wind.

Kagura loves listening to the twins’ heartbeats. She’s obsessed with them. Sometimes she can’t get to sleep until she’s assured herself that they’re both alright. Sesshomaru isn’t surprised. She often fell asleep listening to his before the twins were born, and she continues to after. He likes listening to hers, too. Kagura was incredibly jealous of Sesshomaru while she was still pregnant, though, because he could use his stupid dog hearing to listen to their kids before she could.

Sesshomaru tends to linger closer to Kagura while she’s pregnant. He knows she’s capable of protecting herself even as a human, but he can’t stand the idea of letting something happen that he could have prevented all for the sake of her pride. They eventually come to some sort of compromise that way Kagura doesn’t feel smothered, but his gaze is still keen and his ears affixed for any signs of trouble.

Dumb dog demon man would listen to his kids’ heartbeats and somehow didn’t realize they were having more than one. Kagura was at least a little suspicious because Kaede had mentioned she was carrying similarly to Sango when she was pregnant with the girls. Towa is born and then Setsuna and the second he sees the two bundles against Kagura’s chest, Sesshomaru instantly realizes he’s never felt dumber.

Setsuna’s name was Sesshomaru’s idea. The fact that it was also the name of the man who beat his father is purely coincidence, he swears.

Towa’s name was a team effort. Kagura wanted their names to compliment one another.

As the heir to the Lord of the West mantle, Sesshomaru has been raised from birth to keep his composure, and his naturally reserved nature made that an easy feat to tackle. The most unsettled anyone has ever seen him is while Kagura was in labor. He was pacing like a caged animal the whole time. He would wince when his hearing caught the sounds Kagura made while she was laboring. Inuyasha didn’t even make fun of him. It was that bad. Miroku still tried to crack jokes, mostly because he had been through it already.

Rin is the ultimate big sister. She helps Kaede and Sango with the delivery, and it was love at first sight. It’s rare for her to go more than a few weeks at a time between seeing them. The older she gets, the more time she spends traveling, and the more she has autonomy over when she visits them. Kagura and Sesshomaru make sure Rin always knows their travel plans that way she can join them at her leisure.

The twins both adore Rin. Strangers scarcely believe it when Rin explains that they’re not actually sisters.

Kagura always wanted a family, but never thought she would ever be able to have one. Her husband and daughters are all of her dreams encapsulated. They’re so much more than she ever could have asked for.

Sesshomaru never wanted a family. He considered love a weakness. Rin was the first one to change his heart. Without her, he isn’t sure he ever would have been ready to be Towa and Setsuna’s father. Rin assures him he was always capable, he just had to see himself do it, and she’s incredibly proud that she was his first daughter.

☆the Space Yokai... ion get it lmao They built.it up like it was so strong... and Inuyasha and Sesshomaru took it out with 2 moves....

☆Towa being OP for nooooo damn reason! Towa has no prior training yet she defeating demons left and right. Yet they made sure to show Kagome lack of training very evident.

☆Inconsistencies. More so amongst the fandom.. " Its the feudal Era. It was normal back then. Because people died early" 🥲🥲😪😪 God help me on this one...

ALSO INUYASHA: Has a bunch of old people running around in the show. Kaede seemingly being the oldest

1) It wasn't as common as you think.

2) Inuyasha is so far from accurate. There's literal demons in this show and magical swords and Weapons...

3)If its so common, then why hasn't Sango already been married off by the time she was introduced. Or why don't Kohaku have a wife yet. Or Hisui.. Or Sangos Daughters( this may be true or not. It hasn't been shown)

4) Of you do a little research like people tell me. You'll know why it wasn't common and why it happened when it did

Okay so people are acting like Sessrin happening is totally okay as if that isn’t Literal Pedophilia.

Let’s do some smashing of their arguments!

1. “The age of consent in Japan is 13!!” Okay... no, not in the way you’re thinking. A thirteen year old can consent to another thirteen year old. A thirteen year old cannot consent to someone, say, 19 years old. This is not even factoring in that, just like the Untied States have different consent laws in different states, Japan has different consent laws in different prefectures.

2. “It’s the Fedual Era!! People had families young all the time!!!!” Again.... no. That was done in noble families, and only done in extreme cases. Do you want to know why? Because a fourteen year old girl rarely, in *our modern times* can carry a baby, a SINGLE baby to term. Either the girl will die, the baby will die in the womb, the baby will be born prematurely and risk extreme health problems, or the baby AND girl will die.

Why is that the case? Periods are a sign of puberty. It means that the body is undergoing the changes to become a fully formed adult. Periods are a early-to-mid sign of puberty. Yes, she has eggs and can be impregnated, but a good portion of her body isn’t ready in the same way as her reproductive system. Puberty ends around the age of 16 for girls.

“Oh so it’s okay if Rin gets pregnant at 16?” No! Because mentally, the brain doesn’t mature until the age 25.

“Then why can people do x at 18?!” Because the government decided they could. 18 usually signals that the body has matured, and matured bodies are GREAT for war. The general idea is ‘if we can go to war at 18, why can’t we do x?’ Even then, there are some things, like Alcohol, that require being aged 21 (in the United States).

3. “Rin wanted this!!” Yeah, and you know what else kids want at her age? To play and have fun. Think about what YOU were doing at age 13. Were you having sex with a man way older than you? If you were, I’m incredibly sorry for you and your experiences.

But let’s explore how Rin “wanted this”. Sesshomaru saved her life. He was a driving factor in how she overcame her trauma. He had /power/ over her. If he told her to walk off a cliff, she would. Why? Because she absolutely trusts him. She would never question why he’s telling her to walk off a cliff, because it never crosses her mind that he might want to hurt her.

“That’s not the same thing” it’s an allegory.

Now, oftentimes pedophiles will go into positions of power where they have unrestricted access to young children, and where they’re unlikely to be questioned. Boy/Girl Scout leaders. Youth Ministers. Priests. Police. Teaching. Am I saying that everyone who takes up this role is a pedophile? No! Absolutely not! BUT. These are some of the most common positions infiltrated by pedophiles because it makes children trust them, it makes parents less likely to scrutinize their actions, and they’re normally well liked by the community.

So. Sesshomaru was her caretaker. She trusts him absolutely. What he says must be right and okay. After all, he wouldn’t do anything to hurt her, right?

Why are you putting the responsibiliy of the relationship on RIN? Why aren’t you asking WHY Sesshomaru wanted this? Why are you bending over backwards to justify this?
