Third fic I’ve stopped reading in as many days.

*sigh*

I get the lack of love for Sam-and-Pete. I share it. 

BUT

Having the team turn against her? Call her a slut (as in the fic I’ve just deleted forever from my kindle and my life)? Insinuated she deserves a broken heart when Jack moves on because she’s the mean one who dared try to have something normal first?

No.

NO.

I disagree entirely with the direction the writers took her character with that storyline (mostly due to how she was in the episodes between the Pete episodes, which totally confirmed she still loved Jack and therefore would never get engaged to someone else) BUT Jack tried moving on, too, peeps. 

I don’t see the Jack bashing and Kerry bashing as prevalent in fanfic as the Sam bashing. And she doesn’t deserve it. (Don’t get me wrong, her accepting Pete’s proposal - even staying with him at all - after he stalked/background checked her was so wholly out of character I could rant for hours but --)

Even in the bloody episodes. Jacob being downright mean to Sam making it all awkward about the wedding. Really? I get that he didn’t approve of Pete and knew it wasn’t making her happy but to do that in front of Jack? Jacob wouldn’t do that to his daughter. He’d take her to the side, ask if it’s really want she wanted. Ask if she was happy. He wouldn’t pretend to like Pete because he didn’t, but he wouldn’t be like that with her in front of her CO - in front of the man he knows she loves. Nu-uh.

Turn it around. If Jack had got with Kerry first, would we have seen the same backlash against him? 

Somehow, I don’t think so.
