The Poet The Sun sets and the Moon hides The Stars aren’t in anyone’s sight As the lanterns light the dark town The people go to rest at night. One house, though, had a dim light It was The Poet, writing in the night. He dragged his pen across the paper, As unfinished poetry, to him, was a stranger. “The aura of night is rather mystique The owls come out to quietly creep The crickets chirp their little song In the grass, where they seem to belong. The little leaves tremble on their branches As the wind comes and softly dances. The river comes and goes along the shore While the tiny mice sneak across the floor.”
