OK, so, Deadpool mind-wiped himself (Despicable Deadpool #300), erasing most memories of the last several years, including his daughter, Ellie.

Leading to this pretty great issue later, where Ellie recognizes him during a job. She chases him around trying to convince him not to kill anyone (in this case, a mascot at an amusement park, where Ellie happens to be on a field trip), aaaand memory-wiped Deadpool is an absolute dick to her.

Panel 1: Deadpool walking next to Ellie
Deadpool: For the love of whatever the %&$# you love, kid. Life isn't fair, it doesn't work out like we think it's going to. Sometimes life just plain SUCKS! Didn't your mommy and daddy teach you that?

Panel 2: Deadpool pointing at Ellie, who's looking sadly at him.
Deadpool: Wait, let me guess. You're a cliche my-daddy-left-me-and-now-I-got-all-types-of-issues-and-want-to-lecture-adults-about-what's-right-and-fair type kid.

I do love this issue though, because I think Ellie really shines, she gets to be fearless and smart and brave and an actual character.

She doesn't convince him to call off the hit - but Deadpool's not able to finish the job anyway. Conveniently, he's out of ammo.

...because Ellie is a clever girl.

Panel 1: Deadpool walking off into the background, Ellie in the foreground watching him leave.
Deadpool: $#&% that little $&%# dumb %&#@ @#*$ &*#@!

Panel 2: Ellie looking down at her closed fist.

Panel 3: Ellie's hand, opened up and holding a handful of pistol ammunition.
Ellie's Teacher: (from off-panel) Ellie! There you are!

(In the first panel, Deadpool's talking about his target that got away, not Ellie...)

I'm glad they didn't just use the memory wipe as a convenient way to "reset" and pretend Ellie and the other characters never existed. I like this setup, too. Ellie's smart, she knows he's dangerous, so she's careful not to reveal who she is to him, but she's also not willing to give up on Wade completely yet. Probably inherited his stubborn streak.

Like who was ever gonna tell me that Eraserhawks is a thing??? Was I just supposed yo find out about this on my own?? Cause there's 59 fics for it on Ao3 right now and I've read all of them this week! Including wips and abandoned fics and the ones that were just chapters in Kinktober collections! This dynamic? Like What??? My Heart??? Be still???? I thought I've been trapped in rarepair hell before but I guess this is what all those posts about being the change you want to see in the world are finally hitting me in the face for?? ERASERHAWKS??
