Honestly, you would not believe the chokehold this week has held on me. Like...SHIT! Can a bitch breathe?!?!

Sorry. I’m usually more composed and eloquent whenever I do this, but...damn! You know? 

Anyways…

Hi Shanna. Honestly, there are no words that I could express right now having read this because I feel like everyone else has said the things that I would like to say (yeah, I kinda spoiled myself a little before reading this chapter), but wow. The way this story is continuing to unfold, and so cinematically too, is just leaving me speechless. 

Starting off, I love the small nod to Namjoon during the coffee shop scene. It was light. Witty. A bit strained though and that's why I couldn’t help but wonder if the main character and Finn are actually going to break the glass ceiling back into normality. They’re trying, but it only seems to be scratching at the surface, and there’s only so much that you can do before your arms get tired and you eventually just give up. It’s sad now that I’m actually putting words to this, but I’m very glad that you’re bringing out these emotions in me. 

I also really enjoyed Jungkook’s appearance in this and noticing how Jimin was more tense than usual. To be honest, I laughed when you panned over to stiff Jimin when he was packing up from class. Sabrina though was someone that stood out to me the most during this chapter. It was interesting seeing her in this new light. From seeing her so sure and confident in herself, someone who is so firm and sturdy and poised, to seeing her with cracks in her persona. Seeing her look more “human” and softening around the edges. It made me sit up a little and pay attention to her more because this was so different than how we usually see her, so I’m looking forward to her arc, if she does have one, later. 

When it came to the party, it was a moment that I knew would ruin me (it was also at this scene where I realized that Noelle Monique from Kim Possible. If that's true then Sabrina is totally Bonnie). Anyways, Jimin and Hoseoks Halloween costume?!?!?!? Shanna!! And when Jimin said, "Things happen for reason, right?" OOP- (I’m sorry, my brain kinda gave up on me here and I was in a continuous mindset of what the actual fuc- 

So the party, part two!! My last brain cell came back here, so I was able to think a lot about what you wrote here. One thing that really came about was just the irony that even though she and Finn are close, they couldn't be further apart. It’s saddening. It's like watching an accident about to happen so you kinda just have to brace yourself until the impact and just pray that the aftermath isn’t terribly disastrous. I also was reflecting a lot on the parallels between what happened with her and Finn at the club versus her and Jimin: she didn’t dance with Finn, but she did with Jimin. Alcohol got spilled on her and she was upset, alcohol got spilled on someone else and she laughed. But in both instances, Jimin was there for her in the end. Except for, you know, after THAT. And finally, FINALLY, Sabrina got the talk that she needed to knock her down a peg. Though I'm curious to see what's going on on her side of things and see if she’ll take the main character’s comments and actually take them to heart. No matter how many times I say that I feel a bit aversive to Sabrina, there is still a part of me that feels for her. There’s so much potential underneath...and… and maybe a part of me wants to give her a hug. I don’t know though. She’d probably kick me in the gut while she does a grand plie or something with a smile on her face. Still love her though!

Also, I love Noelle. So, so much. When she got the call from the mc, she didn’t ask any questions and dropped everything was there for her right then and there. And the rest of the ending reminded me of a TikTok where a girl said to let your friends be the standard for your relationships and that was so crystal clear right then and there. 

I don’t know how things will pan out from here, to be honest, I kept trying to come up with theories but now I’m just here for this very enjoyable and emotional ride. Thank you so much Shanna for this. I’ll always be cheering you on. Sending you lots and lots and lots and lots of love!😘💕

And fuck, if that didn’t make you melt. 

To be honest Ash, you made my heart melt. 

I actually read this last night, but I was a bit too tired to type out my thoughts which is why I’m here now. Before I started typing this though, I reread the story again to recollect my thoughts and figure out what I wanted to say, but first, I would like to mention how excited I was to read this. I mean, I kept checking back to your account and making a mental note of when this was dropping so that I could be prepared for it, but even with all of the preparation down, my feelings were all over the place. It was like watching the Super Bowl or something (but I don’t like football, and you and your writings are eons better than that), but honestly, thank you for this story. Seriously. It made me so happy to get your notification that it was out, and I was speeding through the rest of my studying to get to read this last night.

Okay, rambling aside now, I knew that this story would be good, but after rereading it again, I still can’t help the jitters I feel every time I think back upon it. Like this story was so. Damn. GOOD! Ash, I know that you said that this story was supposed to be half of what it is now, but thank goodness for allowing me to be able to stay in their world a little bit longer. Let me feel all the things I felt for just a little bit longer. 

I loved how you wrote Seokjin. Carnal and sexy, but also sweet and charming and just an overall loveable character that I would do anything for. I loved how you took your time building up their characters even after that first intense scene, and having Seokjin sort of build a boundary for himself to not hurt her and take care of the main character was a treat and something that I loved as well. Having him establish boundaries through communication not only through sex but just in their general relationship was also heartwarming to read and I know that you took your time on creating that. The ending where she asked if she was her boyfriend made me giggle. That was cute, and it was a good segway from their love-making to just show who they are as friends, and as people who care about each other.  

Thank you so much Ash for this. This truly made my night/morning all the better, and I’ve always enjoyed writing to you. The way you create characters, establish relationships, and build worlds is nothing less than phenomenal and you seem to always raise the bar each and every time. Thank you again Ash!! ILY!!! Saturdays at 3 am were supposed to be peaceful.

Well – at your apartment, that is. You couldn’t account for whoever elected to roam the streets of downtown at night.

But what was definitely not supposed to be happening was being awoken from your deep slumber by furious pounding on your front door.

Oh, for fuck’s sake.

When you glanced groggily over at your alarm clock and saw the time, you could have screamed.

Just as you reached for your phone to call the cops on whatever psychopath was probably waking up your entire floor, your screen lit up with a text.

Suckjin [03:19]: plz open ur door

Oh, for fuck’s sake.

Sliding out of bed, you hissed as your bare feet hit the cold hardwood.

This had better be fucking worth it.

Plodding out of your bedroom on tiptoes to avoid as much contact with the floor as possible, you made your way to the front door without even bothering to throw on shorts under your oversized t-shirt.

Whatever. You were sure that brat has seen thighs before.

While the knocks had thankfully quieted for a moment, he started up again just as you reached the door.

Before he could even dare bang his fist against the wood again, you were turning the deadbolt and whipping the door open, readying your fiercest glare for the broad man standing before you.

Right as you opened your mouth to start cussing him out, he sprung towards you, hands pushing you further inside your apartment and shutting the door before you could even blink.

When he turned to face you again, hands on his stomach, you prepared for the verbal onslaught you were about to send his way.

“Just what in the absolute hell do you think you’re-”

When your eyes naturally followed the path of his arms down to his stomach, what you saw there shut you up immediately.

Wide-eyed, you took a step back, eyes never leaving the sight before you. He-

As your breath quickened, a (miraculously clean) hand shot out to cover your mouth gently, though you were sure he was ready to clamp down at a moment’s notice.

“Please don’t scream.”

When you were finally able to break your gaze from his abdomen and look at his face instead, pleading eyes locked with yours, his skin paler than usual.

As frightened as you were, you calmed some when you processed the fact that he seemed to be standing before you just fine, albeit the fact that his eyes appeared somewhat unfocused.

You nodded, reaching a shaky hand up to remove his from your face, shivering at how cold and clammy he felt.

When you could speak again, you spent a few moments collecting your thoughts before you opened your mouth again.

“Do you think good people do bad things sometimes?”

Hi Ana,

It’s been a while since I’ve written typed to you like this, but I’m glad that I’m able  to do so right now. I’ve missed you even though I see and interact with you all the time on Twitter.

This chapter was dark. I mean, it’s not like any of the previous chapters or even this entire series was anything but, but this chapter really made me take my glasses off and just take everything that was happening without any barriers or anything else to soften the blow. 

We finally get to see what Lee has been up to all along, and I can’t believe that his addiction was right under my nose. All the signs were there like you said, but having the words written in ink really changed everything. It's amazing how one moment can change how you see the world. Like Seokjin said, why do moments of happiness usher in intense fear? It’s a disturbing balance, so where the mc has Yoongi, Lee and everything else that heightens his corruptness is lingering right beside her. Though, the most sinister moment for me, a moment where I could feel my blood run a bit colder, was this part:

Sweat beads at your temples.  Lee turns his head to stare you down, even as he continues to push saline, even as the patient continues to sputter.  There is a hard glint in his eyes that tells you everything you need to know.

He knows.

The pacing and everything that led up to those words were so excellently and meticulously implemented, and the way my mind felt and the way my heart seemed to beat a little bit faster in my chest was like nothing before. It was startling and deafening, and this right here is the perfect epitome of suspense. It’s also the reason why this is one of my favorite parts.

Through this though, I love how Yoongi was there to make the tone a bit lighter, make it a bit more easy to breathe not only for me, but for the main character. I think it was last chapter when I questioned what Yoongis prize was, and before I had an inkling that it was her but now, I’m not sure. If she's his prized possession then the metal is his remedy. If the metal is his prized possession, then she is his home. Someone that grounds him and someone that makes him want to fight for more. Live for more. I also can’t get over the fact of how sweet Yoongi is in this. When he said, “-- It’s not a bad time,” Yoongi interrupts quickly.  “Not for you, anyway.”, I was like, well, I guess it’s my time for my ring finger to be occupied lol. 

But seriously, I love him. The way he protects her and cherishes her is nothing that I could begin to adequate explain with the way my brain is working right now, but he’s one of my favorite, if not my favorite characterizations ever (but I’m also lowkey making side glances to Jungkook...cocky bastard. Hot though. He could pound me if he wants too-

Anyways, I’m really glad with the way this chapter turned out. I’m glad that they were able to kiss again. But most of all, I’m glad that I was able to come back to you and read this amazing story. I can’t wait to read more. As always, and until the end of forever, I’m sending you my love💕

P.S.- Also, I forgot to mention this, but this is one of my favorite lines: “Grow up in chaos and you will end up craving order.” I don’t know, but in a way, this reminds me of me. I’d made me think. Also, the montage with the sins and the pacing of that to the climax of this chapter was absolutely phenomenal. You continuously remind me why reading is my home away from home. Thank you Ana. Truly.

You don’t have the heart to remind her that you don’t drink tea.  You suppose she takes comfort in the ritual, in pretending for a few minutes that you’re a normal guest in her home under totally normal circumstances.

But if the action serves to soothe her nerves, it only makes yours more frayed. 

You sit on the stiff couch in the living room for what feels like an eternity, looking out over her pictures and keepsakes.  Your eyes lock on a framed photograph of Ko and her husband, young and tanned and smiling, holding matching tropical drinks against an equally tropical backdrop.

A much happier time.

Ko’s husband – her partner in all things – has been dead for more than a year now.  And as you sit in this room filled with their shared memories, your heart breaks at the thought of your friend hiding out in here, alone.

Afraid.

[A big YAY! for Grammy award-nominated BTS🥳🥰 Now, Hi Shanna! How are you? I hope that you’re swell]

Before I start off with anything else, I would first like to say...I KNEW IT HAHAHAHAHAHA!! Big Brain Energy!!!! My last brain cell was there for me because GOD would it have been embarrassing for me if someone else came to pick her up.

All jokes aside, I'm actually really glad though that Jimin was there for her. Not because we're beginning to see this slow-burn start to burn (even though it is one of the highlights), but you get to see them as people, not dance students who are competing to be the best in their class. I mean, the last time we've seen them to the closest to this level of normalcy was in the first part during sign-ups (and we all know how that went). But, there was just a comfort in knowing that you have these two people who are slowly progressing along in their newly established friendship. They can laugh together. They can share their worries and problems with each other. And most of all, they feel comfortable with each other now, and I think that's really beautiful and I love how you mapped this out Shanna. I also really enjoyed the piece you put in about how the main character used to watch Jimin during competitions. It was nice and it made my heart swell even further because Jimin did the same to her, and I just really love the connection and the whole sense of admiration that they share with one another. You come to find that they are actually more similar than you might have thought initially, and I’m enjoying watching how their relationship is blooming.

I’m also glad that she and Finn were able to reconcile, but it just didn’t feel...I don’t know, whole? Like yeah, they are slowly but surely working together to resolve any patches in their relationship, and maybe this is part of what it means to be in a relationship (I wouldn’t know though, I’ve been single for 20 years😅), or maybe I’m just being biased, but that conversation still had a lingering emptiness, and I’m not sure if it will be resolved. Especially now since we see that might have a small crush on Jimin flourishing, which was really entertaining to read.
