Further Thoughts On Deluge Of The Inevitable
Further thoughts on Deluge of The Inevitable
Unlike in episode 3 we DO actually hear the Ferryman's voice which I think was subtle foreshadowing that he was going break through to the Counties (and possibly Otto's screen). I also can't stop thinking about Otto's comment on feeling like Ferryman is speaking through Noone, it's a creepy as hell idea.
I almost hope we never see the Ferryman in the games just so he can stay this mysterious badass who's just always loomin' and schemin'.
I have no sweet clue what Lonnie has up his sleeve for the finale, but considering the first episode, the only other one he wrote on his own, had the most properly dream-like feel, I know we're in for a treat.
It'll actually be pretty weird going back to no regularly scheduled, official LN content. At least we can look forward to the (highly likely) trailer at the Game Awards.

Hol' up, skele-jester/shark hybrid?

Pretty sure she's the first new skele-jester we've seen since Ozzie's.
This actually brings me to a cursed(tm) idea that Mammon is actually skin and bones but pads his suit with toxic sludge or some shit, so if he holds in a sneeze his suit could burst and dissolve one or two of his employees alive. Naturally, he's mostly pissed about the suit and having to hire someone new.
After seeing the new HB episode I've come to the conclusion that Crim is a blessed character and any episode he appears in will be more entertaining to me than most others.
Ranting about (and predicting) Big Boy Boxing (Warning: This will be MASSIVE)

Big Boy Boxing is a Punch Out styled indie boss rush game slated for release in mid 2024 with a cartoony style and bosses gimmicks inspired by Cuphead. It's being developed by fledgling studio, Soupmasters, and I am fucking OBSESSED with it!.
The predicting part comes from the official presskit which shows a bunch of boxers not currently sorted into tournaments.
For context, the devs are aiming for 24 unique opponents, we currently know about 6 tournaments and their champions, but given none of them have any final boss energy, I'm going to assume there will be 8 tournaments with 3 opponents each.
Just so we're all on the same page here's a link to the above mentioned presskit, here you can see images for all the mentioned characters:
Freezy's tournament: Freezy Boy is the first champ and this games Glass Joe, with the twist being he can hulk out. I think that makes it pretty clear that the fighters before him will be quite feeble. This makes me think of the Retired Joker and DJ Yamon. Neither a very tough looking and would make good introductions to a few mechanics.
Wild Dude's tournament: We already know about Mr. Adyltmen and of course, Wild Dude, given the latter's love of rats I'm betting Grizzly Rat is gonna be the third character.
Toxic Love's tournament: It turns out we know all three opponents, Coach Skank, Trigger Happy (thought she's been redesigned as a little girl with a giant mallet) and Toxic Love, herself.
Jim Chad's tournament: In addition to Titanic 5000, whose redesign has made him much less intimidating, and Jim Chad we'll see a spiky haired, currently unseen character, whose shadow can be seen with Titanic 5000's and Jim's in a cutscene snippet in the most recent trailer on the Soupmasters channel.
Bruno's tournament: The only guess I have for this one is Master Dong, his zenned out design gives him a tuned-into-nature quality, which fits Bruno's jungle theme.
Dr. Brawn's tournament: Brawn is a stereotypical supervillain, Super Roger is a stereotypical superhero, nuff said. Also there's Chef Kembo, recently reinvented on the official discord as a smaller hunchback (possible lab asisstent archetype) who drinks gasoline and goes by Chef Diesel.
Here's the discord link:
Others: D' Bulldozah and Grand Adultman are quite interesting both could be in the same tournament, but I highly doubt it. I think what's most likely is that Grand Adultman will be in the final tournament (though not the champ) and D'Bulldozah will be in the non-final, non-revealed tournament
That's all I've got for now, hope I got at least someone interested in this serious contender for 2024's GOTY.
The Sounds of Nightmares episode 5 analysis: Getting Swept Away
Jord knocked it out of the park with the setting and monsters, the cliffhanger was fucking wild.
The Nebulous Figure:
The Ferryman is extending his comic MO further by trying to convince Noone not to come to the Maw, but to integrate into the Nowhere as a whole. And like in the comics, I believe he personally engineered Noone's suffering in the Counties, let me explain. I believe the Ferryman used a piece of his liquid like body to contaminate the stream by Noone's old home, causing her sickness, it's persisting effects and now, a tumor, funnily enough, one shaped like the universal symbol of Nowhere, an eye.
As Above, So Below:
Jord's monster concepts are killer, a treasure hunter mixed with a sewer worker is just a perfectly LN-like way of warping things into somewhat recognizable horror, a strange man sifting through a watery area searching for things to collect. The visual of his "bag head" is perfectly visceral and his parallel with the (curiously well adjusted, almost Bully-like) kids and the parallel between that and Otto and Noone is just *chef's kiss*.
Noone's comment about feeling the Treasure Hunter's been changed either just serves to confirm that all humanoid Residents were once people, OR it's suggesting he's become a Resident more recently, which is quite strange seeing as he's a full grown adult.
There's not much to say about the kids on the surface other than their a great twist on the "minor" monster idea with them being a more indirect threat.
NOMES!:
I'm astonished it took us this long the involve Nomes in the series, but it was more than welcome. Not to mention the first nome's "betrayal" has some very interesting implications for my and @queen0fm0nsterz 's idea that Noone's companions parallel the Ladies.
Leading Into The Ending:
Since I know everyone will be curios, I think the ending had the Ferryman warping through the screen, batting Otto away, and seizing the chance to take Noone, this time, permanently.
Should I write a SM fic that follows the outline of a 20 year old British comedy? (I swear it'll be cooler than I'm making it sound)
