Shamura may be the oldest of their siblings, but they were actually born a few centuries before the event that eradicated most of godhood took place. Barely a teen, actually, when it started.

The slaughter of the sheep, while a horrible, it’s not something that frequents their nightmares. Don’t get me wrong, they feel terribly guilty for the genocide…. When lucid with reality.

What torments them the most, specially when out of touch with reality, is the things they directly did (or didn’t do) to their godly peers.

The whole mess of Narinder’s imprisonment and their other siblings’s getting wounded being the most recent one. Shamura blames themselves for not seeing the signs of the disaster about to happen sooner and not protecting their kin (Narinder included, in a way).

But that isn’t the only thing that haunts their fragile mind…..

When they were younger, back when the old faith wasn’t even a thing, they met 3 gods. 3 gods that taught them different things. 3 gods that they murdered in cold blood when the chance arrived to do so. Of the 3 gods, they actually developed a deep emotional bond with 2 of them. This made their crime the more painful and guilt-griven.

None of the main cast knows about this. Not even their own blood. They swore to keep the fact their hands were bloodied since before the old faith a secret to take to the grave….. but…. Their mind is not what it used to be. They may… let some things slip.

Anyway, this prompt is more symbolic than anything else. Shamura is filled with secrets. Secrets that have been weighting their conscience for most of their lifetime.

And lies too. Lies that will burn their surroundings into chaos once they catch up with them, and are set free.

Narinder’s betrayal was not planned. Nor he had the intention of doing the things he did to his family…… until it happened.

It happened in the spur of the moment. One moment he had asked his siblings to meet up with him, and before he knows it, he wakes up in an unfamiliar place. Chained up. Alone….. bloodied.

He initially did not remember what had happened and was incredibly confused…. But when he did, all he could do was stare at his claws. Horrified with what he had done.

“The canine’s eyes first opened wide in surprise, then squinted for a few minutes with confusion, before finally a conclusion reached him. One that made his eyes sharpen with savage fury.

Before the rat could muster another word, the fox’s hands were grasping on his neck, claws digging deep”.

A scene from another AU, where Lamb is a young a child when the cultists of the old faith finally catch them. In it, Ratau is forced to return to Narinder’s service as a regent vessel until lamb reaches maturity.

The only explanation I can give about what is going on is that the fox’s reason for wishing Ratau’s death is directly related as the main reason why Ratau abandoned his cult in the first place.
