But what if Satoru noticed Suguru's suffering?

First of all, he'd definitely try to get Suguru to talk. And we know that Satoru can get really annoying at times, so he'd be asking Suguru how's he feeling every minute of their life, but to no avail: Suguru always dodges his questions and blames everything on summer break, school stress and all that. It almost seems like asking him that often just worsens things, because Suguru will try his best not to look exhausted in front of Satoru.

Realizing that Suguru is basically unapproachable, Satoru opts for a new strategy.

Satoru starts asking Suguru to sleep at his place more often to make sure he's getting enough sleep. He always either brings Suguru out to eat or makes him some homemade healthy food for lunch break, so that he knows Suguru isn't starving himself. Satoru leaves little love messages, paper stars and origamis in Suguru's backpack or pockets. They spend their weekends together, going for trips, walks in the woods, or staying at home watching movies or just enjoying each other's company, so that Suguru isn't always alone with his thoughts.

Satoru wishes he could do more than this. What he's doing is surely helping Suguru improve, but it won't fix his problems: unless Suguru decides to talk, Satoru's hands are tied. But still, Satoru knows Suguru will open up eventually, it's just a matter of time.

What matters to Satoru now is that Suguru doesn't feel so alone anymore.

Before and after of THE ISOPOD JUNGLEARIUM!!! I crammed in as many plants as possible and some Unidentified Strange Wood™ so hopefully it turns out all right! The Isopods aren’t in there yet but they will be someday :)
