Okay You Guys Have No Idea How Many Ranting Threads I Have Going With My Friend. The Good Place, Doctor
Okay you guys have no idea how many ranting threads I have going with my friend. The Good Place, Doctor Who, The Umbrella Academy, etc. They're pretty chill. I have so many ideas but so little time.

Writing advice from my uni teachers:
If your dialog feels flat, rewrite the scene pretending the characters cannot at any cost say exactly what they mean. No one says “I’m mad” but they can say it in 100 other ways.
Wrote a chapter but you dislike it? Rewrite it again from memory. That way you’re only remembering the main parts and can fill in extra details. My teacher who was a playwright literally writes every single script twice because of this.
Don’t overuse metaphors, or they lose their potency. Limit yourself.
Before you write your novel, write a page of anything from your characters POV so you can get their voice right. Do this for every main character introduced.
Kindergarten Dialogue #001
Adult A:“1 would you like it if they were leaving you out and being mean?”
Kid 1: “Yes, I love crying!”
me coming back to a WIP after not looking at it for months:
forget slow burn romance, give me slow burn found family. give me enemies to friends to siblings. tired, weary old mentors learning to live again for their plucky young apprentices. heroes sharing apartments after world saving adventures because they’re so used to living with each other. dramatic “oh shit” moments where someone gets kidnapped and the other realizes “god, that’s my kid.” i want to sit and watch in agony for thirty chapters while two idiots slowly adopt each other, someone get on it
