Meet Jack
Part Two: The Journey to Jack
When I introduced Jack to the world in my last post, I didn’t mention how long I had been waiting for him—a little over five years, to be exact. But I think what makes this story even more special is the journey that brought Jack into my life, and how it feels like he was meant to be here all along.
For years, I imagined my home with a fluffy orange boy cat named Jack. I could picture him in my mind—curled up next to me on my pillow, chasing toys around the living room, and soaking up the sunlight in a cozy corner. I imagined him so vividly that sometimes it felt as if he had already entered my life. However, it took time before the right moment arrived.
Enter Ellie, a stray Mackerel Tabby rescued by my aunts. Although they weren't aware of her pregnancy, my aunts took her in and provided her with a safe place where she gave birth to her kittens. I told my aunts to keep me posted, and let me know if they end up with an orange boy. I still remember the day they told me they had two! Ellie gave birth to four adorable kittens, and my aunts did an amazing job as foster parents caring for them from the very beginning.

They chose the cutest matching foster names: Sonny, Cher, Edward, and Bella. As you might have guessed, Jack, my little ball of sunshine, was originally known as Sonny. I remember seeing photos and videos of these tiny kittens as they grew, and something about Sonny just clicked with me. Maybe it was his cuteness, his curious expression, or perhaps that hint of orange and fluffiness that reminded me of the Jack I had been wishing for all these years.

When the time came to consider adopting one of the kittens, I knew that Sonny was meant to be my Jack. I walked into the room they were in for the first time and opened the door. Jack was the only one to pop his head up from the slumbering cuddle pile, open his sleepy eyes and let out the loudest yet tiniest, sweetest, little meow. I knew he was my Jack right then. It felt like all the years of waiting had led to this moment. I couldn’t be more grateful to my aunts for the love and care they provided to Jack and his siblings, setting the foundation for the wonderful kitten he is today.

Now that Jack is here, every day feels like a dream come true. He's everything I imagined and more—playful, affectionate, and full of personality. And knowing that he came from such a loving start in life makes our bond even stronger.
In the next part of our journey together, I'll share more about Jack's quirks, the story behind his name, his favorite toys, and how he's settling into his forever home.
