incidentally, that last post abt jiang cheng Needing To Blame Someone is also my understanding of why he legitimately loses it over the golden core reveal.  because he’s been blaming wwx for yanli’s actions, and if a person can be blamed for the actions taken by another person, to protect them, without their knowledge and against their will?  if wwx can be blamed for yanli’s death?  then jiang cheng can be blamed for everything that happened because of the core transfer.  he’s not just freaking out over ‘my brother did this thing that was both incredibly selfless and incredibly selfish and wtf am i supposed to feel about that’ he’s also realizing that his own system of logic and justifications now puts himself squarely in the center of the “whose Fault ™ is all of this?”

this is also, i think, why it’s possible and even likely that he and wwx will eventually be able to reconcile - because that is an untenable position for jiang cheng to remain in.  he cannot continue to live like this, if he has to reconcile ‘all the stuff that happened is my fault because my brother loved me too much,’ he’ll kill himself, and he can’t do that because jin ling needs him.  so he’s going to, eventually, have to face up to the fact that, actually, you can’t blame people for the things other people do out of love for them!  actually, it’s not his fault that wwx lost his core!  and consequently - it’s also not wwx’s fault that yanli put herself in danger for his sake.  actually, yanli was her own person and made her own decisions. 

yanli’s death, and the fact that both jc and wwx blamed wwx for it, is what really broke them irreconcilably.  if he ever manages to grapple with the realization that it wasn’t actually All His Fault, i do think they’d be able to reconcile at least to some degree.

(I’ve read mdzs but not svsss. Although I have had some bits spoiled so I’m not going in completely blind here but whatever)
