Ingo’s estimation would’ve been more precise (like down to the minute, maybe second) if he still had his watch or phone. ⏱️ I’m not sure how long it would take to get from Hokkaido (Sinnoh) to the Tokyo area (Kanto) & back. There’re Pokémon she can ride, too, some being as fast as some vehicles, so I honestly forget how I came to this number anyways lol.

Meanwhile Mizumi, like many on the Survey Corps,  quickly learned that to draw fast & accurately for the Pokédex is a must-have skill. Shortly after meeting Ansy at the Crystal Pool, she was sure to draw this out for her own reference, & for this moment.

PS: Just a small refresher about how Ingo would be reminded of Ansy when he looks at Mizumi. I thought it interesting how Ingo assumingly didn’t have any memories of his past until we (the player) showed up, & walked with him up the Coronet Highlands. He briefly recovers (& seemingly loses) memories of Chandelure & Emmet. That made me think that maybe she looks like someone he knew, & maybe seeing a picture of that actual person might help him remember more solidly. After all, a picture is “less ephemeral than memories”.

DxP REWRITE - Recollection

*To be clear, he also remembered (almost) all the names Ansy mentioned in the last one, but since the conversation was about Ansy as the girl who looked like Mizumi, he only mentions her here.

A lot of people asked why he can’t seem to remember Emmet - I was gonna talk about it in these next few comics, not to worry! In the game, Ingo begins to remember Chandelure & Emmet, but seems to forget right away - talking to Volo about his amnesia, he says “I can’t remember my own home, nor my family, if I had any…” I feel like Ingo would’ve concluded that the “man who looks like me” was family, so I interpreted that as him beginning to recover a memory, but losing it. 

This can happen when recovering memories. My own circumstances were different from Ingo‘s, though I imagined some things are the same, like how memories closer to your heart, good or bad, are harder to get back & retain. It’s a process to be sure, one that benefits from having kind, supportive people around you as you sort through all of that. 🩵

DxP REWRITE - Fully Informed

Over the 2 years since Legends Arceus, people have learned to live with Pokémon more comfortably, & vice versa. There hasn’t been a whole lot of reconstruction here in Jubilife Village yet, as I imagined they put more of their energy into developing the villages at the survey camps around Hisui (which will eventually become the towns & cities around Sinnoh - there’s an NPC at one of the camps who says they were thinking of putting a village there). But they may be doing some building up, as more people come by Prelude Beach. 🍃

You can probably guess who taught Mizumi that habit of hiding her expression under her cap (hint: he’s in the last panel lol). As for what her reasons are for staying, that’s a story for another time.

DxP REWRITE - Sensible Tsundere

RPG protagonist rules aside, it WAS kind of a risk lol. 

Sasmu is more of a tsundere than Ikrit, but it does seem she feels some obligation to look after Mizumi as her friend, much like how he does Ansy. As the mister said, “It runs in the family”. 🤭

rainy camp in galar

Sometimes I log into my save on Sword just to camp out with my rainy babies 8u8 I wish all modern Pokémon games had camping - they tried to do something similar with picnics in Scarlet, but it’s just not as fun for me. 🏕️🌧️

if you’re curious about the team, we have Rain (Vaporeon) & Skye (Altaria), of course - then there’s Candyfloss (Whimsicott), Cirrus (Cinccino), Tadpole (Quagsire), & Darjeeling (Antique Polteageist). 🩵

PS: I was chatting with someone about the eventual Unova remakes (though I actually think getting another sequel to make a Black / White trilogy would be very cool, too!), & daydreamed what if they decided to put in something like camping! Obviously, I’d be JAZZED✨ I feel like pizza would be a great camp food, too. It’s a staple food of NY, & it’s very customizable - you can even put Pinap berries on it if you want lol 🍕🍍

Just me sharing what I think is under our train twin’s hats, & making a case that I don’t think Ingo is quite as bald as the internet thinks he is, even if I style it differently (he just had a bad haircut in Legends Arceus, & had let it grow out again over 2 years lol).

Maybe it’s being in my mid-30’s, I thought it funny how the internet fixated on Ingo’s receding hairline, but say nothing about Larry’s (my all-time favorite Elite 4 member himself who also has a high hairline). Then I thought about why, & came to this conclusion. Also gave me an excuse to draw the everyday businessman again lol. ☁️
