SxV Epilogue - The Crystal Pool

At first, I wasn’t going to post anything here, but the more I browsed, the more I wanted to share my current Pokémon fancomic, Diamond x Pearl: Rewrite (DxP Rewrite for short)!

DxP REWRITE - Ingo

The main reason for this comic himself lol. In the past 2 years, Ingo has had bits of his old personality come back as his subconscious makes more sense of what little of his memories he had left, particularly his volume & posture.

Like Emmet, I could’ve just gave him his in-game Hisuian team, & it is almost one-for-one, except for the free Shiny Ponyta you get near the beginning of the game - I had the thought that he was “lured” to its purple flames as a Rapidash for some reason…so Mizumi gave it to him between the end of PLA & the start of DxP REWRITE.

🔼 After some thinking (mostly thanks to this Sword / Shield Submas run I’m playing), I decided Emmet & Ingo do nickname their Pokémon after rail terms after all lol. Apart from the more obvious names, Olton is for the 5972 Olton Hall, the train they used for the Hogwarts Express, & Victoria, named for a type of horse-drawn carriage that refers to the time before the “iron-horse” ran the rails.

There’s gonna be like 5 chapters, then the epilogue. Chapters 1-4 will mostly be a retelling of the main plot of BDSP, trading off between the present & past parties.

DxP REWRITE - Sasmu

Meet Sasmu! Like Mizumi to Ansy, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree from her great-great grandson, Ikrit, though with a little bit of Akari’s more tsundere sass mixed in there lol.

As such, she takes the place of Akari as Professor Laventon’s assistant in the Hisuian past. I imagined her as a woman ahead of her time: very intelligent, more accepting of things like Poké Balls & outsiders, etc. In the 2 years since Legends Arceus, she had become a very capable trainer herself, carrying a full team of 6.

(Yes, these are still Fire Emblem names - just exclusively from Fire Emblem Fates’ Hoshidan characters lol)

PS: as of the update (see below), her kimono has ume (plum) blossoms embroidered on to replace the sort of “Glaceon flowers” I threw on there before. Ume is a late winter / early spring flower like sakura (cherry blossom) that blooms before the snow is spent, symbolizing hope & resilience at winter’s margin. ❄️

DxP REWRITE - Mizumi

Meet Mizumi! She shares a lot of traits with her descendant, though is maybe even more optimistic & reckless lol. As this is set 2 years after Legends Arceus, she is indeed a girl from the modern era who saved the Hisui region together with the Creation Trio & Arceus as part of the Survey Corps. She is also the youngest & the smallest of the cast, standing at 4’8”.

She’s inspired by my IRL great-grandmother Hiyoko (who married my 6 foot something great-grandfather lol). Like me, Ansy only heard good things about her from older family members, though have never met her herself (except at the Crystal Pool).

DxP REWRITE - A Promise

If those words came from anyone else, Emmet probably would’ve politely thanked them on the outside while inside toss it over his shoulder. But strange things seem to happen around Ansy, & having befriended Reshiram, the dragon of Truth, he could trust her to be honest.
