I Watched The Oscars Tonight And I Gotta Say That The Clear Absence Of Pedro Pascal And Kieran Culkin
I watched the Oscars tonight and I gotta say that the clear absence of Pedro Pascal and Kieran Culkin jokingly beefing was a really unfortunate direction to take an awards show

Since The Last of Us won best “superhero” series at the Critics Choice Awards, what was your favorite part of The Last of Us (the superhero show)?
My favorite part was when Captain Dad used his superpowers of grief and mental illness to kill Doctor Firefly and begin the origin story of Golf Girl.
I’m so happy non-binary and gender non-comforming people are getting recognition for their amazing work!!!
…I’d be even happier if they didn’t have to be misgendered to receive said recognition but I guess Hollywood and Broadway are somehow less inclusive than the fucking DMV
Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller was so amazing and I’d just like to make an appreciation post for his incredible performance. Joel loved and lost and fought and broke and loved again, and Pedro expertly and fantastically led us through every aspect of the character, making him so real and tragic and adding these whole layers of narrative elements with just the looks on his face.
Just a big round of applause for Pedro Pascal all around👏👏👏
Have you ever seen someone dredged out of a lake in a drama series? Yeah, that’s pure motherfucking horror.
Lost to see? You drift down. You become food for the fishes. You die in something so vast it’s near incomprehensible. It’s just a blip.
Swept up by a river current? It spits you out. You die in the rapids, found on the shore. You hit at rock at 70 miles per hour and that’s it. It’s quick. It’s almost… simple…
But lakes… ooooooh boy lakes…
Maybe you drown in a lake. Maybe you go out and fall and hit your head. Maybe they dredge the lake and find you, stiff and blue and gone.
Maybe you got murdered. Maybe a serial killer mutilated you beyond recognition and dumped you in the small town lake. Maybe there’s panic, maybe they search for you deep into the night, flashlights illuminating the woods as they desperately hope to find you… and then the nets pull you up, but there’s a sliver of hope that it’s someone else. Your face is gone. Maybe it was Caroline Reynolds who died in the next town over. Your loved ones feel awful that they hope it was someone else, but they wait and wait and when the forensics come out, the sirens illuminating the world in red and blue, they know that you’re gone…
So anyway that’s why I think lake’s are scary :D
Please reblog, I’m trying to make up a god
I think TLOU does something really interesting, where it uses exposition to show personality.
Like, when Ellie asks Joel about the world and he answers, it isn’t just ‘let me talk about the awesome world building we did’, but it’s also showing Ellie’s curiosity and efforts to bond with Joel, and Joel’s sort of grumpy knowledge about how everything just is.
I just think it’s very well done 👍
