Something about Giles and the way he is defined by his ability to impart knowledge. His fears in Nightmares are not being able to read, being unable to help his Slayer, but also of being lost in the library stacks, of being trapped, lost in his intellect. And then in Something Blue, an episode which foreshadows s6 in the Buffy/Spike relationship and Willow's addiction to magic, he loses his sight, rendering him once more unable to read.
The Slayer slays and the Watcher watches. Giles is trapped in his destiny just as much as Buffy is, almost more so since his destiny is dictated by hers, and his manifested fears reflect that, since they both show him to be defined by that knowledge and rob him of it.

the way prophecy girl is an episode about love first and foremost!!!! like. buffy’s quitting being the slayer, but then her best friend says the vampire made it their world and buffy says we’re gonna do what we have to and faces the master even though she didn’t want to… the way giles hears buffy say you’re so useful, sitting here with all your books and decides that this young girl will not die tonight, she won’t be the one to face the master and he decides to fight the master himself even though he has no powers of his own that would make his chances even by any chance!! it’s about xander saying no I won’t be calm I’m freaked out and I intend to stay that way I don’t care about the apocalypse I gotta help buffy and him saying no she’s not dead after angel finds her dead…. he’s the reason why she lives after this episode…. it’s ABOUT LOVE !!!
