Thought you were joking when you said you were going to use his lap as a pillow, but humours you anyways

Pats his thighs, beckoning you to lay down. He’ll help you adjust your position, making sure your neck isn’t strained.

Brushes his fingers through your hair, running through any knots or tangles with the utmost care

His hands are warm thanks to his pyro vision. You grab onto one of them, holding it against your face. Thoma cups your cheek with his hand, letting you know that it’s okay if you fall asleep, he’ll watch over you.

Lo and behold, you actually do fall asleep

Realizes you’re in the perfect position for him to clean your ears. Slowly, gently, he moves your head from his lap to a pillow made from his crop top jacket so he can go get the bamboo earpick.

You wake up with a start when you feel something inserted into your ear

“Sorry, I woke you up, didn’t I? Go back to sleep, buttercup.”

Itto

This man has so much surface area on his thighs they’re practically begging for you to lay your head there

Puzzled about what you’re doing at first. Cocks his head to the side as he looks at you questioningly through crimson eyes. You can practically see the gears turning in his head

Flex his thigh so your head moves around. You smack the side of his leg, whining for him to let you sleep in peace.

Slowly flexes his thigh muscles before relaxing all of a sudden, causing your head to suddenly drop back onto his lap

Laughs at the way you yelp in surprise, but the laughter turns to protest when you get up to leave

Promises not to do it again

It’s so tempting to though, but he resists the urge. You can feel the way he’ll slightly shift, as if about to annoy you again, but eventually decides against it

“Just one more time, okay? I’m going to do it again—I kid, I kid, lay back down.”

Kaeya

Just chilling on the couch when you join him. He expects you to lean against his shoulder like you usually do, but this time you plop your head down onto his lap

Raises an eyebrow, a shit-eating grin spreading on his face.

Asks if you’re suggesting something earning himself a hearty slap on the chest

Chuckles lightly as you get yourself comfortable, saying this was nice and you should do this more often

Runs his thumb across the side of your neck

Right when you’re drifting off, this lil shit will start jiggling his legs, shaking you awake

Laughs as you grumble, pushing yourself up to a sitting position and glaring at him

As you get up to leave, Kaeya pulls you in by your waist, sitting you back on his lap

“Now, where do you think you’re going, baby?”

Xiao

The two of you were outside, finding shade from the afternoon sun under a tree and resting on the soft grass

Xiao was leaning back against the trunk, arms crossed when you pat his thighs

He opens his mouth to question you on what you’re doing, but the moment you lay your head in his lap all words fail him

It’s comfortable, and he doesn’t want you to move, so he decides to stay silent

You were only going to lay in his lap for a few minutes—at least, that’s what you told yourself

The dream-eating yaksha makes for a surprisingly comfortable pillow, and you end up falling asleep

You look ethereal as you sleep, softly snoring

Xiao loves how peaceful you look, his usual hard expression melting away into quiet adoration

It’s for this reason he can’t bring himself to wake you

You end up actually sleeping for hours lol

“My legs are fine. I’m happy…happy that you felt safe with me.”

Zhongli

He was just giving a lecture talking when, out of nowhere, you lay down on him, plopping your head on his lap

You don’t explain what you’re doing, just looking up at him, waiting for him to keep talking

It takes Zhongli a moment to process what you’re doing. He pauses, his mouth agape, before clearing his throat and continuing on with his story

Only asks you what you’re doing when you start poking and pinching his thighs

A light blush dusts his cheek when you tell him how comfy they are.

Puts his hand on your head to stop you from squishing your face against his thighs. pls you’re flustering the poor man

Continues on with his lecture, but it’s hard to stay focused when you keep tapping and prodding at his thighs

I woke up to the sound of gunshot again. This is kind of normal right now. Since the day I married him my life has been turned to hell. But sadly I can't even escape it. It is my reality now. I got up and went to the shower and came back as soon as possible. When I opened the door of the shower I felt another person’s presence there already and it felt creepy at this point.

I knew where the gun was. He always made sure I remembered that. And fortunately with my short term memory I still do remember. I was walking on my toes so that I wouldn't alarm the stranger but I felt two strong arms wrapping me up from behind. I tried all the techniques to free myself from that man but to no avail. I even tried to scream but he closed my mouth and then he made me unconscious.

When I woke up I was tied in a chair but I was still in my room. My head was hurting like it would burst but fortunately it didn’t. I looked around and saw two men wearing all black and also had their masks on. So it was hard to recognize not that i can know any of his enemies. I knew someday this might happen to me but never knew this would happen so soon. I wish someone would save me. To be honest I don't even know whether he will know where I am and will come to rescue me?

I was getting sleepy when someone splashed water and that literally woke me up, “ where is your husband?” one of the masked men screamed. “ How could I know when you tied me up like this early in the morning?”I spat at him.

“ girl talk nice, you are in no condition to talk back like this right now”, the other one spoke.

“exactly , don’t you know what would happen to you if you won’t obey?”, the first man said.

I smirked and then replied, “ and don’t you know what would happen to both of you when my husband will find you”. The second man came closer to me and held my chin tightly and made me face him, “ trust me girl your man won’t last a minute when he will meet us”, he slapped me hard and then continued, “ and then you will regret this the rest of your life”.

“I don’t think that will happen because i have known him for the last three years and boy oh boy I pity you both”, I said back and as soon as those words left my mouth i again got slapped and this time a bit a little harder. This time my lip swelled up and blood trickled down.The man came and pushed down a large piece of cloth in my mouth, “ I hope now we will have some peace without hearing your annoying voice”.

I was still struggling to speak or get free when the door flew and then my eyes landed on his. He was angry, like really angry as if he would burn the entire place. He shot the man as soon as he entered, “ now you won’t even be able to hear your annoying voice”. He shouted.

He rushed to me when two of his bodyguards came and tied up those masked men. Mingyu walked to me and opened the cloth out of my mouth and touched my face as gently as possible as if it was the most fragile thing. He then looked up at me and saw tears in my eyes. He got up immediately and shot one of the man’s legs, “ Who dared to touch my wife?”, he literally growled this time. The men were whimpering and were unable to speak by then, who were getting beaten up severely that the structure of their face had changed and was all bloodied. He repeated again, “ WHO THE FUCK DARED TO TOUCH MY WIFE?”.

No one answered and all I heard then were 4 gunshots and then he ordered, “ Take the bodies and dump them in the dumpster. These trash bags should be eaten by stray dogs.” Both his men rushed and dragged the bodies when these words left his mouth instantly.

[time skip]

After ending the chaos and everyone left, Mingyu cleaned my wounds. I looked at his eyes and I had never seen them being so sad. He was so arrogant and strong and now seeing him this heartbroken and sad is shattering something inside me, “ I am sorry I shouldn't have left you alone here”, he said, eyes fixed on my wounds. His face was so close to mine I could feel his warm breaths right now, “ For me your life is constantly in danger”. It seemed like he was guilty and was resenting himself. This is the closest I have gone to him. I never thought I would fall for this man after marrying forcefully to him. But something inside me is changing because the man I am seeing is not the same as I was married to.

After he got up, my instincts made me pull his hands and he flopped down beside me. He was surprised at my act. We never exchanged such emotions and this is the first time. I can feel how nervous he is. I giggled, “ Someone is about to cry it seems” I teased his hairs.

“ What?”, he spoke as softly as possible. He changed his side to face me. His hand touched my face and the next thing I knew was his soft lips brushed my cheeks. He pulled his face away and looked at my shocked face. And then he spoke, “ I can't let anything happen to you, not even a scratch. Whatever happened today is the last.If someone touches you I will burn everything down to ashes”. He then pulled me closer and kissed me. That one kiss made emotions burn inside me and I kissed him back that fiercely.

[ Next day]

I woke up when the sunlight fell on my eyes and something felt heavy on me and when I opened my eyes properly I saw Mingyu without his shirt but as far i remember he had it on when we went to sleep. He had wrapped his arm around me like he was holding me. Instead of getting up instantly I stayed there for a while to gaze at his gorgeous beauty. He looks so rough and fierce but now watching him sleeping so calmly, his breath being in perfect rhythm, I feel like I can spend an eternity and more with him. I touched his arms then his face and was playing with his hairs when he woke up, “ Good morning darling”, he said in a raspy voice.

“WHAT” I shouted, because what I heard shook the ground beneath me.

Minho sighed and then repeated, “ Chan is getting married”.

I heard it right the first time too but it felt so unreal. I mean why and how.

“ How did you get to know?”, I asked softly.

“He called me to ask me if i can be his best man”, he replied.

I didn’t realize it, but a single tear fell down my cheek. I said, “ okay, i will talk to you later”. I hung up.

Why is the world so cruel? I never get whatever I want. Is it only me or someone else who is pure bad luck?

He is getting married for real and this isn’t a prank. I could figure out that much from Minho's tone. I should have told him how I feel. Is it too late to confess?

I lay down in my bed and stared at the ceiling when tears started falling down. I remembered the first time I met Chan. he entered the class and sat down beside me and showed me his sweet smile. I guess it was that moment that I fell in love with him. The typical love at first sight.

We talked and became good friends, actually best friends and then we were inseparable. He was the only person I ran to whenever something happened. And he is always there just one call away. How can I not fall for him then? I knew he was just nice and that perfect man who deserves the best girl but it still hurts. No one ever knew about my crush on him except Minho who happens to be smarter than everyone I guess. Anyways the point right now is he is marrying someone else and i still couldn’t be honest with him.

I was amidst a lot of thoughts when my laptop chimed. I looked at it and there it was ‘ MY DOOM’. It was an email from Chan. my tears again started flowing. I wiped them and clicked it.

y/n where the heck are you? I have been searching all over the place. How could you vanish on me and didn’t even contact me like really????? I am glad you gave me your email and I swear if you wouldn’t send me a reply I will send cops to search for you! I am here making a big decision about my life all by myself and you are not here to hype me up. And you know the girl i am marrying i freaking love her so so so much man i could die rn. I know when you will meet her ( i hope you come soon) you will like her too. She is exactly your opposite, you know. She is sweet, soft, gets scared easily, never takes risks and cries so much. I am the luckiest man you know to have her. I am so happy I wish you were here so I can tell you so much more and celebrate with you. Please y/n come back. After reading the email I felt like the ground beneath me shifted. He is so much in love with her. No doubt i am happy for him that he is so happy but a part of me right now envies that girl so much. I don’t even know now how to move on. It's been 10 years since I have been in love with him. All my life he is the one I had ever developed any feelings for. I hate myself. Why am I such a coward?

I decided I will go to his wedding , if he needs me I should be there after all that’s what a friend does right?

[ time skip to chan’s wedding venue]

I reached the venue. Minho first asked me to pick me up from the airport but I refused. I don’t want to ruin his day too. I saw the place, it was beautiful and my heart ached. I checked into the hotel and went straight to my room. I flopped down as soon as I entered. I already feel so tired.

I shut my eyes and then after a few moments someone knocked on my door. I got up and opened it and as soon as i opened the door chan legit choked me in his super tight hug. And it took a while to break from that hug.

“ Have you eaten? How was your journey? Did you face any difficulty? Why aren’t you speaking?”, he was bombarded with tons of questions and didn’t even let me speak and then was looking at me worriedly with his two little pretty eyes.

“Chan i am all okay and yeah i ate in the flight and nothing’s wrong with me”, i turned a whole rotation to show him i am all okay from head to toe cause gladly he can’t see my heart.

He smiled and then sat down in my bed. I sat next to him. And then he started talking. I was all mentally prepared for it.

“ You know how nervous I am right now”, he took a pause and then took my hand and placed it in his heart which was thumping crazily just like mine. “ see how crazy it is my heart is going to explode it feels, but i am happy you came and now nothing will go wrong”, he said and then cupped my face.

I swear right now I am this close to a breakdown but I can't cry right now. I need to be strong just for a day. I broke down my long chain of thoughts and focused on what he was saying.

“ I love Emma so much I can't even explain. I saw her and that was the moment when I fell in love with her. Do you even believe that it’s so crazy how someone can fall for someone the moment they see them?”, he laughed.

I wanted to tell him how real it is cause I too fell for someone the first time I saw him.

He continued, “ i was so scared that i might get rejected and i even texted you but you didn’t reply me”, he sulked for a moment, “ anyways i told her and guess what she said yes, we dated , we fought and had an amazing time and then one day i felt like i want to stay with her forever and asked her out and trust me y/n that was like the best day of my life”, he had tears in his eyes. I pulled him in a hug. It was better to know he was happy.

He then pulled back and said, “ and today I am marrying and I am nervous tell me what to do.”

I smiled and replied, “ it seems like Emma is such a great girl and i am so happy for you but don’t get nervous it’s going to be all okay”.

“ Yes, I trust you and thank God you came. I can't even explain how happy I am right now”, he said and then got up.

He continued, “ I should leave and get ready and you too get ready and come and stand beside me. I want your strength”, and then he left.

I never realized a heartbreak hurts this much. As soon as he left all my hope left too. I sat down on the floor and my tears started flowing. I tried to stop them but to no avail.

[ During Wedding]

I showed some courage and went to the wedding. I was sitting beside Minho, looking towards the front trying to hold back my tears. Minho was patting my back from time to time to calm me down. And then Chan entered. He was looking so gorgeous I kept staring at me. He was blushing so badly and that was so cute. When he passed us and went to the podium my eyes were fixed at him. How can someone be perfect ? I was completely lost in my thoughts when my eyes met his. His eyes were sparkling and he flashed a million dollar smile that I can die for.

After a few moments Emma entered. To be honest i felt that pang of jealousy i didn’t want to look up but eventually i did. And Chan was correct, she was awestruckingly beautiful. And she seemed nice. She straight away looked at Chan and he cried. I realized this is it. He is gone. He is happy. I can’t ever get him. The one person I fell madly in love with is right in front of me but is gone now forever. I tried not to cry but it hurt so bad that I started crying. Minho hugged me thankfully. I am at least glad to have him. But there is nothing left for me here. I fell for my best friend who never loved me back.
