An Update on Wafaa's Fundraiser
Wafaa's account has now been suspended 3+ times (I'm not sure of the exact number but it's been ridiculous). Her campaign has been verified and vetted by Palestinians, and yet her blogs are constantly being deleted for no good reason.
Wafaa is undergoing severe stress and anxiety due to being separated from her family who are trapped in Gaza. Her children are sick and unable to be treated properly due to lack of adequate medical care, and she has already lost a niece to the genocide. She has to constantly come onto this website and beg people to see her humanity for the chance to be reunited with her family. That her accounts keep being shadowbanned and suspended without warning is not only disgusting, but it also puts an extra burden upon her.
Her new blog is @wafans-blog. Please follow her. Donate to her fundraiser if you're able; if you can't, send her link to someone you know who has the means. Reblog her posts and share her fundraiser with others. Let's get Wafaa to her goal as quickly as possible to reunite her with her family!
Emergency Fund for an Artist in Gaza
A family friend reached out to me to ask about raising funds for her friend, an artist in Khan Younis. Mariam, who is the family friend, is a poet and a songwriter herself and is very connected to the art community in Gaza. Her tumblr is @mariampoetry.
The friend in Gaza, who requested to stay anonymous, urgently requires funds within the next few days to stay in the home she's currently seeking shelter in. The family she's staying with are demanding a payment of $1000 USD "rent", or else the artist will have to pick up her family and stay outside in the sweltering heat.
We will be raising $2000 USD for her. This includes potential paypal fees, wire transfer fees, and other fees that banks in Gaza place on the money, which can go up to 30% of the money received. If any extra funds are left over, then they will be transferred to the artist for anything she might need.
