Quran 8:70
♥️
Keep in mind that Allah is not in need of our fast, prayer or reading Quran. These rituals are meant to tame our desires, to help us attain patience, to gain empathy and purity. We are so fortunate that in Islam we dedicate a whole month to self-improvement, purification of our hearts and strengthening our will power.
As we go through each ritual let’s ask ourselves, “What meaningful lesson am I suppose to take from this?” Here are a few examples of lessons:
1. Lesson from fasting is being able to control ourselves when faced with any form of temptation. It’s also to make us more patient in every area of our lives and to help us build the discipline muscle.
2. Lesson from praying is to put our trust in our creator and to stay grounded in the midst of all the distractions. It’s also to prioritize our creator over every other precious thing we love and to become humble realizing that everything is achieved through His will.
3. Lessons from reading Quran is getting guidelines on conducting ourselves with ethics and morals. It’s also about modeling all the beautiful characteristics that are praised and staying away from those that we are warned from.
Next time we’re engaged in an act of worship, let’s be more aware of the lessons we’re suppose to learn and have each ritual improve our character in some small way.
