Please have a moment of silence for the people who were killed instead of freed when news of emancipation finally reached the furthest corners of the american south.

have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.

and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.

black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.

if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.

Also just imagine him on Dancing With the Stars 🤩 he would be so incredible. Also can I just say as someone who’s done partner dancing… idk if this is weird but he would be an amazing lead. Like his soft but powerful aura, his confidence, his gentlemanly demeanor like…. He would be an amazing lead for the lucky lady, just saying.

Could not have said it better myself. They mean something different to each other, and it’s like — fuck what the rest of us think. They appear completely unbothered and completely devoted to whatever it is that they have: best friends, twin flames, lovers, companions. Whatever it is for them, that’s what they care about more than their status as celebs, and I love that for them. I love it for all seven of them, that they so clearly have a bond that’s deeper than “bandmates.” But we all know (and like OP said — if you don’t atp, it’s a you thing) — jikook are special.

Jimin and Jungkook have such an interesting dynamic, to keep it “apolitical”, and I think it’s the sweetest thing, tbh.

Obviously fans don’t know them and therefore can’t know for certain how they define anything, but the overlap and consistency is so visibly different from how they are with other members. And the reactions from fans to anything they do together is so jarringly different than when they interact with other members, it’s hard not to question things.

We’ve seen celebrities grow apart due to fan behavior, and they haven’t. We’ve seen celebs make blanket statements to draw lines in the sand. They haven’t. We’ve seen celebs make very specific statements to wash away any misunderstandings. They haven’t. They just are JiminAndJungkook, and it’s such a vibe.

If you don’t fuck with them as a unit, you’re just a lost cause at this point, because they’ve made it pretty clear they value their bond over whatever people say about them.
