I still don't like this scene and I wish they would have just cut it but they didn't and after rewatching it can see it a bit differently. It's still bad writing but I think Matt and Emma did their best with this scene.

No I don't support this behavior but I feel a little bit more okay about it and rhaenyra not being scared shows me that she knows that he would never truly hurt her. That this a moment of rage, frustration, fear and this is why she let's him get away with it.

She was not scared. Not of him. Not of daemon. She knows him. She sees him. Like no else ever did. They are equal and she knows in that moment that this is not about her. It's a few moments where he loses himself in the feeling of once again being left out, of once again having to watch someone making decisions based on a prophecy, on whispered words and dark farytales.

He is scared and she is scared. Everything is a mess, breaking apart, their family is in danger. He does not wants to lose her but it's so it's just too much. Losing his brother. Losing his child and maybe feeling like losing the connection to his wife. Just for a moment.

But she is there. She does not show fear, she does not try to get away from him, she holds the eye contact. It's daemon. And it's rhaenyra. And she knows it's the fire inside him, burning. The flames burning in his mind. It's not okay. It's not the right thing to do. But she is not scared, not of him.

You can see how he wants to kiss her. Kiss her so hard that everything just disappears for a moment, feeling her lips, consuming her, feeling her, her skin, that she is still there. Not gone. Not dead. That she is not out of her mind, not yet, not in a way where they can not communicate anymore.

But he forces himself to let go, to stay sane. It's not the right time, not the time for a kiss, neither the time for a true fight. He needs to clear his mind, to get away from her.
