Hey! I've been here for a while and I've somehow amassed a shocking amount of followers and mutuals, so I figured it's finally time for me to force one of these out for you guys!

(And you know... a masterpost... when I get around to it. 😅😭)

✎ Sun and Shadow

Everything goes wrong for Freya Ula when she leaves her simple life as a fisherwoman to get engaged overseas. Her ship gets wrecked, she finds out her dad's been hiding secrets from her for her whole life, and, oh, she gets framed for a terrorist attack. Wait, WHAT!? After the city's greatest detective is attacked and disappears before she could consult with him, Frey has to enlist the help of his kid and her would-be fiancée to find out who framed her and clear her name. If only Crow was half as good a detective their dad was supposed to be.

Main characters: Freya, Crow, Daleira

✦ Urban-esque high fantasy ✦ purposely very tropey in places ✦ however, as always, I love throwing in curveballs. Wonder what's played straight and what I'm going to emotionally destroy you with. Definitely won't be Crow.

✦ Slow-burn romance between Freya and Crow ✦ immediate interest between Freya / Daleira ✦ oh, look, it's a love triangle? ✦ JOKE'S ON YOU, IT'LL ACTUALLY BE POLY ✦ it's just... going to take a while.

✦ Lesbians, lesbians everywhere ✦ though Crow is actually genderfluid and uses they/them for the first book ✦ despite barely having anything written I've already plotted a bit of book 2 ✦ I desperately need help.

✎ The Arcane Rifts

Ghosts of past tragedies haunt the town of Kavo after decades of neglect. Fantastical creatures desiring nothing but fear and destruction hide in invisible tears in reality. Gangs and the police are at constant war with one another, there's a shapeshifting monster running amok, and the mayor's assistant suddenly wants a disabled orphan kicked to the streets. A year ago, Gene was discovered in the forest on the outskirts of town, half dead, amnesiac, and unable to even speak the local language. As he had nowhere to go, he was brought to the orphanage of Kavo for a place to stay. Now Caspar, the assistant of the mayor and the man who funds the orphanage, wants him kicked out. When Gene's left to the cold, cruel streets of Kavo on his own, he has to navigate through a town ravaged by decades of neglect and intrigue. Has the corruption truly been purged from the government? Why are godly forces active in Kavo, a small town in a backwater country? And most importantly--will Gene survive?

Main Characters: Gene, Tazin, Mislav, Ludmila, Rada ❧ Gene and Tazin for book 1 ❧ the other 3 start being MCs books 2 and 3 ❧ I guess Nikolai is also a MC tho

❧ Industrial-era rustic high fantasy ❧ mixes fantasy, action, horror, and mystery! ❧ oh helloooooo "ominous feychild" origin? ❧ very strong folkloric and traditional fantasy inspo ❧ except I mean "traditional fantasy" as in ❧ "we don't understand this magic stuff but we're used to it" ❧ not "travel the world adventures!"

❧ VERY involved story with strong themes of discrimination, poverty, exploitation, trauma, and the recovery from trauma ❧ each main and secondary character is one flavor of discriminated against or another in-universe ❧ obviously I try to write it respectfully, but you can't really write bigots being bigots "respectfully"

❧ Has two "main plots" going on simultaneously; technically three ❧ I periodically give the reader updated "character guides" ❧ like they get more recent plot info added kinda like a red-string board to keep you, the audience, up-to-date with info you might've otherwise missed ❧ I think it's really cool and people seem to enjoy it ❧ I know it seems like a lot but please give it a chance

❧ I've literally plotted out pretty much the entirety of the first and second books, and know most of how book 3 will go, yet there's very little out for the current version of the story ❧ part of that is because I'm paused on the 3rd draft

❧ There's lots of timeskips throughout the first two books, but they're mostly to age up the protagonists! Gene, the MC, starts the series at 7. I promise it's not a kid's story though.

❧ The "secondary MC", Nikolai, is the police chief investigating magical stuff going on at the same time. They tie in with the main story involving Gene, though won't appear to for a long while.

❧ The "golden child" series I love more than SaS; however it's on hiatus because I promised people to work on SaS first and SaS is more popular as a romance-focused story. :/ ❧ I would never be salty about that.

Writing Share!

Let's go with a snippet from the last flashback/backstory chapter from Kye Thalax's past (a.k.a. the day his Dad dies when Kye is a kid and leads to his revenge arc as an adult)

They didn't stop running for a while. Eldora's men were persistent, and both of them knew they would likely get killed for the treason of... escaping from her grasp. Neither of them wanted to - much less after experiencing a little taste of freedom for a year.

Still, her wrath was about as unavoidable as the Reaper's cold embrace. From where he was held in his Dad's arms, Kye had not yet seen the men following them, ever since they'd lost track of them - but he thought he saw one, up on the rooftop of one of those bright silver buildings. There was a flash of red light, barely noticeable, following them, like a laser from those movies he'd seen.

"Dad?" The seven-year-old asked, nervous, as he tried to see what the man on the rooftop was about to do. Damen, panicked, didn't answer - he'd said they needed to get to some ship. That if they got there in time, they would be safe.

But right now, as the red dot continued to follow them, Kye wasn't so sure. He tried again, this time tugging, gently, on his father's ponytail, "Dad!? Dad, what's that?"

Damen looked at him, still running, frazzled "Dear, now's not -"

He cut himself off, stopping and looking over his shoulder. Kye noticed how his eyes narrowed for a moment, and his pointy, frost-white ears twitched, a second before a sharp something whooshed through the air.

His Dad jumped to the side, curling around him and keeping the boy out of view. Meanwhile, a glass capsule flew right into his leg, shattering and spilling a dark grey, bubbling liquid into the wound. As Kye peeked from under his arms, the strange red dot was nowhere to be found.

A moment later, Damen finally dared to move, looking frantically over his shoulders and around them to see if the shooter was still taking aim. When he looked at his own leg, fingers gingerly brushing against the wound, he gasped, freezing for a moment.

Kye didn't know what his Dad had seen or recognized, but if his reaction was anything to go by, it wasn't something good. It would only be years later that Kye would look back at this moment in time and recognize this strange liquid as... poison.

His Dad had been poisoned. But now in this very instant, all that he knew, was that his Dad was scared. And he was terrified too.

Jack Tithus

WIP - Supernova Initiative

"They're my family - and I don't leave family behind. No matter how chaotic they may be."

25 years old, Jack is the Junction's most wanted intergalactic thief and rebel. Growing up in poverty on one of the most crime-ridden moons of the galaxy, Jack learned from a young age to be resourceful and do whatever it takes to survive and keep his siblings safe. Otherwise, he has a heart of gold, a bubbly personality and is incredibly selfless - the kind of team leader that wouldn't think twice about putting himself in harm's way to keep his team safe.

Skills: pilot (one of the best pilots in the galaxy), high-profile theft/heists, leadership skills, streetfighting, being kind.

Nikolay Avresan

WIP - The Crystal of Ash

19 years old. A fun-loving bard, Nikolay grew up on the frozen province of Rekkari. He was an unwanted child, a bastard scorned by his father for his inability to use magic. After years of disappointments, he ran away from home with his best friend and his best friend's sibling. They grew up together merrily, but after a mistake led his whole world to come crashing down around him, Nikolay fled once again, blaming himself for what happened, and looking for a way to fix it, unaware that the actual truth was much more complicated than that. Nikolay is funny, awkward, extroverted and at times painfully oblivious to subtle social cues, but cares deeply about those he considers his friends.

Valen Cassidy

WIP - Scrapyard Boys

16-17 years old. A rebellious and angry teenager, Valen makes it his personal mission to undermine the government's power in the city of New Omnium, despite being just a homeless mutant kid. On the run from the law and fearing befalling a fate worse than death in the city's labs, he and his friends end up uncovering a billionaire conspiracy on the process of being little menaces to society. Valen is an angry, brash, relentless, but secretly kind boy who also swears like a sailor and dresses like an 80s rockstar-wannabe.

Seven lines from Supernova Initiative!

The girl, a young woman around his age, with curved horns stopped by the glass entrance to the chambers, "My parents don't want our people to get involved in this war. But they don't see that the war is already here."

She shakes her head, a thick accent painting her words in uniquely, gravelly, and warbling, but yet soft and melodious. It seems like a voice made to be spoken underwater.

"I will help you guys - because Thalassen needs to remain independent." The girl declares, with a decisive liveliness to her words. She pressed a sequence of buttons on the chamber's outer wall, and the double glass doors slid open.

Inside, Jack and his crew still watched, practically dumbfounded, as she beckoned them forward, "Now, shall we?"

Jack looked at her, then back at his friends, with a breathless chuckle, still not moving from where he was standing, "Alright, but who are you...?"

The girl smiled, sharp like rows upon rows of tiny shark teeth, "I'm Lyorna." She paused, then suddenly squeaked as if she'd forgotten a little detail. "The Admiral's daughter and all that. What about you, stranger?"

"I'm just a thief." Jack stammered, as a sea of hushed whispers and gasps coming from his friends at the fact that they were meeting such an important figurehead's daughter. "O-oh, and my name is Jack. Jack Tithus."

He quickly added, and the girl's - Lyorna - joyous smile increased only just slightly, apparently oblivious to his crew's momentary whispering. Something in her wide-eyed stare, like big pools of dark blue ink, told them she seemed somehow amused or had found the exchange endearing.

She extended a webbed hand towards him, "Nice to meet you, just-a-thief." Lyorna poked fun at his earlier slip up as they shook hands, with a wink, "Now let's go, before Papa finds out and feeds you to the Kherllar out in the Ocean."
