is Lawliet pronounced Low-light or Law-lee-et? I always thought it was Law lee et but I've heard some people say Low-light

HELLO NAUGHTY CHILDREN, IT’S “LAWLIET” DISCOURSE TIME

Alright. The official pronunciation is, in fact, “low-light”, because the Japanese version is “Roraito”. Raito, as we all know, thanks to “Raito-kun”, translates to “Light”, with the “Ro” sound being substituted by a “Low”.

However, I dislike this pronunciation, because by no stretch of the English language does “Lawliet” come out sounding like “Lowlight”.

Some people refuse to pronounce it correctly and instead opt for a pronunciation that sounds more like “law-lee-ay”, which would make sense, as L is said to have a quarter French (or Italian, but let’s go with French for the sake of the argument) heritage. Some simply say “law-lee-ette”, closer to the way that my URL is spelled. I chose it because people often say that I exhibit the kind of traits that they would expect from a female version of L (though I hope that I’m kinder) and, in French, female versions of things often have the suffix “ette”. 

Ultimately, if you want to say it correctly and canonically, it is “lowlight”, but if you cannot bring yourself to, either of the other pronunciations, whilst not technically correct, are both recognisable as L’s name.

Near is probably my second favorite Death Note character after L. Visually he is adorable, and it’s cool how smart he is and his responses to things, even his apparent lack of emotions is quite interesting. While drawing this I watched/listened to the last 2 episodes so many times. I’m trying to keep my obsession with Death Note alive to finish my fanart. I feel that if I move on then it becomes harder to finish the drawings I started If I start to want to draw other things. I’m also still listening to the Death Note Musical soundtrack as well as Junsu’s version of The Game Begins it’s amazing.

Next up should be L, unless I decide to start a drawing of Mello, or Matsuda, or an older Near would be cool. Maybe at the moment I’m not too happy with the drawing of L I have started, or it’s too much pressure from me to draw him good.

Let's not forget that he is an intellectual motherfucker and the fact that he chooses to kill people 'the hard way' (without the shinigami eyes) because he's not in the mood to cut his lifespan for a mere human like you. It's arguable whether or not he is more powerful than some nonhuman protagonists (because then he is another human and all that remains is his incredible intelligence).

Out of curiosity, do you feel Naruto is overpowered compared to other shounen anime?

Yeah, that’s quite evident. The power scale in Naruto went from Uchiha possessing the kekkai genkai Sharigan as being ridiculously strong for genes alone to Naruto holding a literal planet sized shuriken in sage/six paths/kyuubi mode, that made the Sharigan look pathetically irrelevant in comparison. I don’t even think Naruto is the most over powered shounen protagonist though.

But you know who is ridiculously overpowered? I mean can take out Ichigo, Vegeta, Luffy, Sasuke, Goku, Natsu, Gray, Naruto, Itachi, Madara, Gon, Killua, King Meruem, even fucking Ging himself–do you know who could wipe them clean the fuck out in 60 seconds?

Light Yagami.I’m dead ass serious, Light Yagami is by far the most ridiculously overpowered person to exist in the anime realm. The dude can negate your entire existence by writing your name in a diary–that doesn’t scream holy shit to you? Like check this out:

LIKE DO YOU SEE HOW OVERPOWERED HE IS? NOT ONLY CAN HE KILL YOU BY JUST KNOWING YOUR NAME AND FACE, HE CAN BASICALLY MAKE YOU DO OUT THE ASS ILLOGICAL THINGS BEFORE PERISHING. Like in total honesty I don’t care which OP protag I am, I would never on my life piss off Light Yagami or ever put myself in a situation to go against him. Like one minute I could be making crispy nuggets in the comfort of my home and the next I’m swinging myself off a balcony wearing a tutu.
