Can we just talk about Nick's expression when Charlie is trying to break up with him? Like I just keep coming back to that quick quiet moment. Kit Connor did a phenomenal job, you can see him see the break up coming, like Charlie is awkwardly trying to build to his point but Nick already knows where this is going and is just silently begging that he's wrong, that this is not happening. You can see his frozen but feeling like he's in free fall in the most horrible way. And it's such an important moment in terms so showing the audience just how much Nick cares for Charlie and wants to be with him and longs for him, and it's a big part of what sells his later speech to Charlie for me. The audience knows how Nick feels before he talks to Charlie, no emotional whiplash for us for the sake of suspense. We're terrified for Nick that he won't be able to get through to Charlie.
