His life was filled with instruments and studios. Of waiting outside recording labels, in rain and snow, and repeating the same process over tens, hundreds of times, of recording and rejection, of trying again and more rejection. 

There were a million things in the world trying to bring Jaebeom down from his career in music - one of them being his own conscious at times - but there was one constant thing that kept him going. 

Your voice. 

He didn’t know when exactly he had started to hear your voice in his head. One day, he had his mind all for himself and the other thoughts were just being answered by a foreign yet non-threatening voice inside his head. 

Maybe he was already in love with you - before even understanding whose voice it was or what was happening. He had accepted you, found comfort in your voice. As though you were his safety net while his thoughts flew about like a trapeze artist. 

Or maybe that was just how the soulmate thing worked. 

It was different for everyone, so he had no idea what to expect. But the minute your voice had come in, ready to fight away every ounce of his negative thoughts away, he knew. This was the voice of a part of him that was missing, this was his other half, this was his soulmate. 

It took the two of you months to figure out how it worked. But if Jaebeom was being completely honest, he still wasn’t sure how it worked. Your voice came when he needed you and left when he needed to be alone, never intrusive, always welcoming.
