I love you female characters who people blame for ripping apart their ships instead of the larger forces that be. I love you female characters who get all the hate as the male characters who do worse in canon get absolutely none. I love you female characters who get hated on because they told a man “no.”

from as early as she could remember, nesta had always imagined what the day she got engaged would be like. although this is certainly different to what she’d anticipated as a child, it strangely isn’t too far removed from what she’d had in mind. it definitely isn’t a love match between herself and stefan – which is fine by her. and he isn’t exactly the strange older man she had resigned herself to being betrothed to. at least, he doesn’t appear to be, and she can count that as a virtue. the main appeal is that he has no real ties to the night court. if they’re able to keep the ruse up for long enough, she may even be able to spend a few years away from it. she’s still young enough for that to feel like a long time. 

“ why would you offer something like that? ” was it even an offer, or simply him being agreeable to her lamenting that once again her only way out would be marriage. “ – is there something wrong with you that i should know about? ” nesta knew that many of the high fae in prythian approved of her for her role in killing hybern, for being the sister of their saviour. she also knows that people tend to have a positive reaction to her looks. but this isn’t that. in fact, it’s hard to tell if he’s interested in how she looks at all. “ how would it benefit you if we do this? ” as far as she can tell it wouldn’t - in fact it’s much more likely to be a hindrance to be shackled to her. she has been told as much.
