Thoughts about the Harry & Meghan Interview

I'm not an Anglophile, so I don't really care much about Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, or The British Royal Family. I always found America's fascination w/ England kind of odd- didn't We fight 2 Wars on American soil against the Brits? Didn't England support the Confederacy during the Civil War? Yvette Carnell gives a great perspective on the Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Union- did Meghan do her homework on the British Royal Family, or did she get caught up in a Fairy Tale?

Harry himself faced scrutiny 4 wearing a Nazi uniform 2 a Halloween Party, back in his School Days. What about the British Monarchy's involvement in the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade? Roughly 70% of the cotton processed by Great Britain was manufactured by American Slaves- did Meghan ever consider the optics of a Descendant of American Chattal Slavery marrying a Descendant of a Slave Trading Family? Maybe she thought that the White Privilege she enjoyed in America would follow her 'across The Pond'?

Anti- Black Racism, is the cornerstone of White Supremacy. It's the engine that powered The Industrial Age. The European method is not as harsh as the American, but it exists nevertheless. The smug condescension of European anti- Black Racism is insulting, & likely hurtful 2 some; but hardly worth thoughts of suicide. Meghan presented herself as a 'Soft Target', & White Supremacists love attacking Soft Targets. She should have pondered the situation of Lady Diana. She was from a decent family, but STILL caught a lot of grief from The British Royal Family & British Media. Her privacy was violated up 2 the moment she died. Even in death, 'Lady Di' isn't allowed 2 Rest In Peace.

Meghan's problem seems 2 B an issue of perspective- She sees herself as Bi- Racial, but The Brits see a Black Woman. It's pretty clear that she was the target of anti- Black racist attacks from the British Press. The racism w/i The British Royal Family however, is curious. I remember a lecture from Dr. Yosef Ben- Jochannan on the British Monarchy. He said that King George III's Mother was a Mulatto. His Wife, Charlotte of Mecklenburg Strelitz was also a Mulatto. That said, why would the British Royals 'haze' Meghan?

I don't understand what Oprah expects from this Interview. Was it supposed 2 B an aspirational piece 4 'Women of Color' looking 4 their own Prince? Was it a cautionary Tale? Meghan is framed as a victim, but Women of the British Royal Family have been scrutinized in the British Tabloids 4 years. Being Bi- Racial adds another layer 2 the scrutiny, but doesn't set a precedent. Britain's Black Community could've been a useful resource in learning how 2 navigate the terrain- but that goes back 2 perspective.
