TWT Theory: Cooper

It makes sense that Cooper is the one that helped bring music back into the world. He is the best of two worlds: Pop and Funk. The fact that his heartbeat inspired his brother first out of everyone else that was there feeds on the connection between the two twins.

Through his soul searching journey, he found his heart in more than one place making him the bridge that connected the world of Trolls.

Then, of course, there’s Miko. Extremely rowdy, loud, and rambunctious Miko. She probably had an incredibly hard time fitting in anywhere, in both Japan and in Jasper. Miko even mentions that she probably scares her host parents. But of all the bots, the only ones who can really handle her nonsense are the Wreckers.

Bulkhead, her guardian, is big and kind of a dimwit sometimes. But when it comes to Miko, he’s virtually on point. Even when her mischief gets her in a lot of trouble, Bulk is usually there to help get her out and keep her safe. He’ll give her a mild scolding, leaving the harsher stuff to Arcee or Optimus. Regardless, he’s careful with her. She’s small but a handful, always keeping him on his toes. If Ratchet is like Raf’s father, Bulk is most definitely Miko’s uncle. The “I don’t know how to take care of you, but I’m willing to learn” kind of uncle.

Then there’s Wheeljack, the “I don’t really care about the rules, let’s have fun” uncle. He gets into the thick of the trouble just like Miko does. Of course, there is a limit to how much he can actually let her get into without Bulkhead or the others losing their minds over it. If he had it his way, Miko would be allowed to get into just as much scrap as him. Aside from Bulk, he’s probably the only one who really lets her express herself without berating her for getting mad or being too loud. And when she’s all done and tuckered out, he makes sure she gets back to the others safely. Reckless, but a good uncle nonetheless.

TFP HC: Family Ties

Was just listening to the Robots soundtrack and was reminded of the train station scene. Immediately thought of Ratchet, for some reason, particularly his attachment to Rafael in TFP. 

Ratchet’s connection to Raf was built on the kid’s ability to exceed all of his expectations. Ratchet had well founded pride in his species for their accomplishments and strength, but very little of the same pride in humans. In fact, he downright hated them in the beginning. But Rafael’s talent and meekness cut right through his rough exterior. While the old bot is quick to a temper and preferred to be alone, he still looked to Rafael when he needed help and would even keep him around a lot to assist him. Eventually, Raf became like a son to him, with whom he passed on some of his knowledge to make him smarter and wiser.

And speaking of family, I have to bring up Bumblebee. Rafael is the youngest in his family and has constant pressure to ace school to the point where he doesn’t have many friends aside from Jack and Miko. He gets talked over and most likely doesn’t get the chance to express himself much, if at all. Then he met Bumblebee who, like him, is the youngest on his squad and has pressure to be  a good scout/warrior while standing in the shadow of someone like Optimus Prime. But also like him, he has a limited voice, figuratively and very literally. Despite being so physically different, they became kindred spirits to one another, finally being heard for once.

Whenever I listen to "It's Not For Me To Say" by Johnny Mathis, I have this interesting music video play in my head.

It starts with a guy leaving for work and finding an eviction notice on the door to his apartment. He takes the overcrowded bus to work, only to get called into the manager's office and handed his pink slip - he's been fired.

So, with a box full of his cubicle's belongings he treks over to a nearby highrise office building and takes the elevator to the roof. He sets down the box and slowly walks towards the edge, but at the same time across the street, there's a woman doing the same thing. Before either of them get a chance to jump, they lock eyes and the man falls out of his depressive trance.

Realizing the situation they were now both in, the man calls to her to stay where she was and that he was going to help her. He grabs his box and hustles down the elevator, across the street, up the elevator again, and out of the roof access door. Setting down his box once more, he slowly approaches the woman and beckons her to come off the ledge and back onto the roof. She concedes and takes the man's hand, slowly stepping off the ledge and back onto the roof.

It cuts to the two sitting at a bus stop bench with cups of coffee in their hands. They don't say anything for a bit but then burst into sobbing laughter at how strange the situation was. After officially introducing themselves with a handshake, they part ways. The man takes his box and boards the bus back home to his apartment and the woman stays at the bus stop holding her coffee.

Not sure why I thought of that idea, but it almost reminds me of Paper Man. Maybe I'll make that someday.

TWT Theory: Mixed Race and Ancestry

Mixed Race Trolls:

Shared features and colours

Hooves, long necks, glowing skin, wings, etc. transferring to the children

For example, Brendon Urie is pop rock. His body colour might be bright and shiny like a Pop troll, but he would have the dark patches around his eyes that the Rock trolls have. His style would be flashy and accessorized but in a way that reflects Pop and Rock. (This style is based on his I Write Sins Not Tragedies outfit.)

In the case of Big Smo’, he’s a Country Rapper with the self-designated genre of Hick-Hop. To mix a Country troll with a Funk troll, he’d have to be tall with a long neck but have hooves and the fashion sense of a Country troll. 

Vestige Trolls

Ancestors to the current genres and ancient kings/queens of the Troll Kingdom.

Think the Avatars or the Ancestors from the Mulan movie.

These two shown here are the designs for the King of Rock and King of Pop, Elvis and Michael Jackson. Their style may have created the beginnings of the music we know now, but they’re a lot different and would be considered almost ancient to the current generation of Trolls. Direct descendants of these kings and queens are still around, but the main bloodlines have been distilled and/or ended at some point in history. 

Vestige trolls provide the background harmonies you hear when the current king or queen is singing or playing music.
