We have the perfect symphony of music going on in my Rez rn.

A Native-Mexican family moved in the house behind us quite a while ago, and they always play Mariachi music while BBQing, doing yard work, or just because.

Now, we don't mind, but my Old Racist Grand-Uncle who lives next to us really doesn't like Mexicans, so he started blasting Hand Drum Music every time they turn on their Mariachi.

Now this is already a really funny scenario, but the neighbors to the left of us decided to start blasting their old-school rap music just to drown out the sound of the Native American-Mexican Symphony War going on outside, and so now I started blasting Radiohead and Worthikids just cause I want to be included :)

For a lot of Americans, it didn't have as much of a personal emotional impact as they make it seem, even at the time. A tragedy? Yes. But I think my Dad put it best "With how many people America was pissing off, it was bound to happen sooner or later"

Surely 9/11 had a big impact on the U.S. but as a German kid it wasn’t anything of larger significance.

Reminder braids are not a universal hairstyle between tribes! I’m coming from the perspective of Great Plains tribes. I just thought I might share what braided hair means to my community and people. I see people trying to make ocs or redesigns of characters who are native but don’t actually represent us too good. Reminder to always research a tribe before making a character learn their protocols and at least try to learn something new! 🌸💖🍇
