While at a family reunion in Colorado, I suddenly feel motivated to write Catch of a Lifetime again.

We went to watch the Dodgers play the Rookies (they won, just like in my story, chapter 10). Jason Heyward and Freddie Freeman both played, like in my story (Mookie Betts was sadly injured the day before and Clayton Kershaw wasn’t pitching). It just felt like Tim Bradford should be out in center field (which he wasn’t, of course).

Then today we went hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park with my kids, just like Tim in my story said he wanted to do in chapter 10. It was a gorgeous day to hike.

I’ve been working on the next chapter of Worth the Wait since I underestimated how upset people would be about how the last chapter went. But maybe it’s time to bounce back to Catch. Hmmmmm.

I’ve never done a good job of bouncing back and forth between my stories, but maybe it’s time.

Six Sentence Saturday

Today my family started driving back home from our family reunion. Hopefully the hundreds of miles of cornfields we pass today will inspire lots of writing. 🤞🏻🙏🏼

My husband is awesome at driving, and doesn’t mind doing >90% of it so that I can manage the kids, food, drinks, entertainment, etc. Luckily our kids are old enough now that screens entertain them for quite a while, so hopefully I’ll have some good writing time.

I only have 661 words at the moment, so it’ll be a little while until this chapter is ready. But here’s the six (I think it’s actually 9) sentence preview.

🌻 Least favourite character / hardest to write

Hmmm. Celina is a bit more difficult to write for me, but she's hardly made an appearance in my stories. She's just a bit quirky and mystical for me. I would have to do some research on crystals and astrology to have her be a major character in my stories.

🐠 Author who inspires you

Published author? My favorite author is Jane Austen. It may be cliche and boring, but she wrote such real characters that felt like they were your friends and her storylines have become immortal.

Fanfic author? @makeitastrength writes beautifully with great insight. Her in between moments have largely become head-canon for me. @silverskull writes the most gorgeous, verbose prose that is distinctly hers. I could pick her style out of a group of writers within a few sentences. Keep tissues close by when you read her stuff, though; she tugs at your heartstrings. @girlintotv has these amazing, long stories that transport you into her AU so quickly and efficiently, like canon barely existed before you started to read. Her organization and plotlines are also quite enviable. @fuzzywuzzywuzzawriter seems to write for their own enjoyment alone. Their stories are fantastic, but they write and post only what they want and don't put up with criticism or whiny requests. I love how bold and confident they are.

🍀Character you would kill off if they were not vital to the plot

Bailey. No offense to Jenna Dewan, but I've never really felt connected to her. I don't know if it's the acting or the writing that she's given, but it's just mediocre to me.

Motivation? Honestly, the need to get the story out of my brain is what motivates me the most. What motivates you? The comments/kudos? The thrill of accomplishment? The completion of a story? The freedom to start another story once one is done? Some reward you give yourself? Sorry. I'm not much help there.
