by 2077 relic shards are pretty common and street level so i wonder how many people went through something similar to v. their shard is obviously different in the fact that it was an one of a kind prototype that would kill them if taken out BUT. shards can get stuck inside someone's slot so it got me thinking exactly how often it is that someone gets stuck with the physical manifestation of a loved one? these engrams arent self aware either so i cant imagine the grief the person would have to experience while an engram of their dead family member is stuck in their head with no clue unless they're told

so these guys were born. triston grew up running with a gang and when his mother figure died she transferred her consciousness onto a shard to be gifted to him. the doc who made the chip was shady, accidentally mixed up the shard with one of an old gang leader. now he has to grapple with the fact that the shard of his mother is lost and he most definitely has a cult on his ass looking for the shard thats STUCK inside his fucking neck. i wanna delve more into this idea but my brains all muddied from how busy ive been the past month
