The Fact That Handwashing Represents Penance And Looking For Forgiveness, Especially In Religion, And
The fact that handwashing represents penance and looking for forgiveness, especially in religion, and the only time we ever see Kaz (who literally goes by Dirtyhands) wash his hands is in front of Inej (start of SOC, bathroom scene) symbolising how he only ever tries to be a better man for her, and that she's his only religion... What are some myths that you think people come up with about Inej and her ship?
I think these myths come in two flavors: the myths the people she saves have, and the myths that slavers have. Depending who you ask she's either a Saint or a Scourge.
First, there's the obvious one that The Wraith is an actual ghost ship with a phantom crew. This fits both with the name, with inejs skill set, and with what we know the ship is like (small and very fast). It glides soundlessly out of the darkness at night, and by the time you spot it, it's too late.
The captain of the wraith can hear every prayer for deliverance whispered on the sea
She doesn't have a physical form, just a figure of shadow and mist. The only tangible thing about her are the blades in her hand
The sea took pity on the men and women who jumped from ships to escape slavers, and instead of letting them drown, she wrapped them in sea foam and kept them safe. She gave them a shipwreck from the bottom of the ocean, and that's where it sails, rising from the water only when it reaches a slaving ship
I love the idea of Inej amassing just as many myths and whispers as Kaz did about his gloves, except for her they're a mix of good and bad depending on who says them
Love how Wylan started off learning chemistry to impress his father and ended up using it for violence, what a character arc
Is that not the dream of all children with shitty parents? Using the skills you learned to impress them to ruin their lives and enjoy every second of it?
Wylan really said I'm going to show you just how useful chemistry is, bitch. What a legend.
