Summary: Daydreaming never leads to a good end, does it?

You blow a piece of hair out of your eyes as your foot connects with the punching bag in front of you. Thud. Thud. Thud. Every well-placed kick is so satisfying. You give the last one an extra bit of oomph before stepping away, breathing hard. Getting your reps in isn’t necessarily the most entertaining thing ever, but its necessary to keep yourself limber. You pause your music with a tap to your earbuds and go to grab your water bottle, weaving in between others in various stages of their workout routines. You’re in a smaller room on the second floor of the gym, and when you wander outside you can see the whole floor below you.

The kendo group is in full swing, taking over the massive open first floor. You aren’t the only one admiring their form- several people linger around the edges, watching as they dance across the mats. They may only be high schoolers, but they’re the best of the best. This gym caters to the higher-end schools in the area, including yours, so you see a lot of familiar faces in the crowd. A boy from your maths class is sparring against someone wearing a rival school’s colors, and a few first years are working through entry-level combinations.

You take a sip of water. There is, of course, one person in particular who catches your eye- not that you’d ever admit it to anyone in a billion years. Then again, they probably already know.

Takahashi Morinozuka: Ouran third-year, world-renowned kendo phenomenon, member of the school’s notorious host club, and also, wonder of wonders, your boyfriend. You’re still not quite sure how that happened, if you’re being honest- you just sat down next to him one day, grumbling under your breath about the homework, and he’d agreed in that quiet way of his. You get to talking, and one thing led to another, and- you feel a smile on your face, and you shake your head. You don’t think you’ll ever get used to it.
