♡ 𝐉𝐄𝐀𝐍 knows that the world you live in is a dangerous one. He's learned the hard way that when you love someone, and when the world is cruel, that every moment is precious. He gave up caring a long time ago whether your comrades noticed his affection towards you; life was too fleeting to get hung up on embarrassment, and why would he be ashamed of it?

"Here, let me help," he'll murmur to you just before missions, gentle hands moving to help fasten the clasps and belts of your gear. He knows you could probably do it perfectly with your eyes closed, but he wants to see for himself. He wants to feel with his own hands that every last pin is in place, that nothing can go wrong, at least on this front. He can tell by the sadness creeping into your smile that you can see through him, but he appreciates you putting up with it nonetheless.

He'll hold your hand in his whenever possible, even if you're only walking ten steps from the doorway to your table in the mess hall. He'll lace his fingers all the way through yours and give your hand two soft squeezes, so habitually that he doesn't even think about it anymore. When he's walking on his own, his palm seems to twitch with a phantom ache—his hand missing yours.

Jean can't sleep without you anymore. At night he holds you close, keeping you cradled gently to his chest, his lips pressed against the crown of your forehead. He can't remember how he was ever able to sleep alone. He wakes first, and he's careful not to wake you each morning as he slips out of bed, having to pry himself away from you. You look so at peace sleeping; he wants you to know peace, to be able to dream safely for as long as he can let you. Some mornings he can't pry himself away, and he'll lay there with you until it's dangerously far past when you both should be up.

When things go wrong, and they often do, his first and most natural instinct is to place himself in front of you. Often, when faced with danger, he extends a hand outward and back, gently pulling you by the arm so that you're slightly behind him.

He loves to make you laugh. Seeing your face lit up with joy fills him with hope for the future, hope that the good in the world was worth fighting for. And he can't help the fact that he happens to be naturally hilarious, no matter what Connie or anyone else has to say about it.

He has all sorts of nicknames for you, ranging in variety from slightly insulting to disgustingly romantic. He'll call you a princess and a peanut-brain in the same breath, and he means both with extreme fondness.

He tells you that he loves you, constantly. Sometimes it's those three words—a murmured 'I love you,' breaking a comfortable silence as you walk together at dusk, or half-slurred into his pillow as he falls asleep with you held close—but sometimes he says 'I love you' when he reminds you to eat, when he tugs you gently to bed and begs that you let yourself rest. He says that he loves you when he reminds you to 'Take your cloak, stupid—' or else you'll be cold when night falls.

He says that he loves you when he finally breaks down, tears welling in those honey-washed eyes as he tells you about Marco. About how when his nightmares aren't of his fallen friend, they're of you in Marco's place. He says that he loves you when he trusts you with those painful recollections, with the full significance of what it means for Jean Kirschtein to love you, to be in love with you.

em’s note: fell down an osamu rabbit hole yesterday and and and

he swore that he wasn’t tired, but bokuto is currently passed out in the passenger seat after an msby game. his seat is reclined, just enough so that he’s able to lay back comfortably, and his large hands are clasped together as they rest on his torso. you’re making your way over to his side now, smiling as you catch a glimpse of him through the windshield. you open his door — gently of course, and duck your head as you lean into the car. your hand delicately slips past the hood of his sweater that encloses his face, and you hold his warm cheek in your palm while pressing a light kiss to his lips. the smile that appears on his face is almost instantaneous, and his eyes flutter open at the feeling. “hi.” he doesn’t know what else to say, still a little dazed and confused. “hi. we’re home now, get out kou.” like night and day, his smile turns into a pout as he stares up at you, “you’re not going to carry me in too?” but he chuckles at himself, stumbling out of the car and onto the driveway as he slings an arm over your shoulder. he’ll drag you by the hand until you reach your bed, flopping down on his back and pulling you onto him. “wake me up like that tomorrow morning too, okay babe?”

it’d been a long, gruelling day at work for osamu, so you couldn’t really blame him for falling asleep on the couch. his arms are crossed over his chest as he lays back, and his onigiri miya hat is sitting atop his face, presumably hiding it from any light. you watch as his chest rises and falls with each breath that echoes of the inside of his cap, knowing you’d have to wake him sooner or later — preferably sooner, to coax him into bed. so you reluctantly reach over to lift the hat off of him, revealing his disheveled grey locks and the bags under his eyes that were definitely not there this morning. you take it upon yourself to plant a soft kiss against his forehead, immediately feeling his rough, overworked hands grab onto your hips and pull you onto him. “samu? you should go lay in bed if you want to sleep.” he only tightens his grip on you in response, nuzzling his head into the warmth of the your neck. “just five more minutes sweetheart.” his voice is audibly hoarse as he mumbles against you, the factor that persuades you into relaxing into him. but five minutes would turn to fifty, and now you’re both knocked out on the couch with the ‘are you still watching?’ netflix screen in the background.

he assured you that his power nap wouldn’t be long at all, but kuroo is still face down in bed almost an hour later. he had promised to take you on a date tonight after having been so caught up with work recently, but the long hours seem to have taken more of a toll on him than he thought. you pad into the room, smiling as you gaze at his sleeping figure. his cheek is smooshed against the pillow, and you can tell that he desperately needs whatever sleep he can get. so you grab the blanket from the foot of the bed, carefully slipping it out from under his feet and placing it over him. but just before you leave, you press a kiss onto his cheek — followed by several more down his jawline and finally, to his lips. “tetsu? we don’t have to go out tonight, okay? don’t worry, just get some rest.” you keep your voice low as you whisper to him — loud enough so he’s able to hear you, but quiet enough to not fully wake him. his heavy eyes remain closed, whispering back a small apology as you plant one more kiss to his cheek, just for good measure. you turn your back on him now, content with leaving him to rest on his own, but then you hear his raspy voice, “hey,” and you turn to see him holding the blanket open, “stay with me?”
