I think out of all the strawhats Zoro is the most mischaracterized. People talk about of the uwu Sanji that’s popualr with a portion of his fanbase and yes I believe that version of Sanji is cringe but at least it’s not a widely accepted version of him. It’s some niche sub genre of him. I can’t say the same for Zoro.

A large part of the fandom believe he’s Luffy’s cold hearted killing machine who doesn’t care about the Strawhats.

Every time I see someone say “Zoro would kill a crew member if Luffy asked him to.” I die inside.

These people really think Zoro would kill Chopper if Luffy asked him to 💀. That’s his son. Also Zoro would leave the crew straight up. He’s the main protector of the strawhats. I understand Zoro is not as complex as someone like Sanji or Nami but i think he isn’t as simple as Luffy’s lapdog. He’s his most loyal crewmate for sure but that’s because Luffy proves to Zoro that’s he’s the type of man he could follow. Zoro holds Luffy to a high standard. If he ever fails Zoro expectations he would just leave.

If Usopp rejoining the crew without apologizing was enough to make Zoro consider leaving then why do people think he would be okay with Luffy telling him to kill the family he vowed to protect with his life. It doesn’t add up.

People always back this claim up with something Oda allegedly said in an SBS years ago but I don’t believe it and even if it was true I wouldn’t take it seriously.
