Isn't it so messed up that Gabriel lost the entirety of his identity and belief, and had to cope with a sudden and imminent onset of total death within 24 hours?

Like, his whole thing was being the Righteous Hand of the Father, for millennia, only to taste loss from a leftover amalgamation of steel and bone, running on black-white binary like some sort of dooming last gift from humanity.

(A point and laugh at the structure of the universe, as nothing will escape our ability to maim until all becomes a pile of disfigured, demolished, severed scrap. Mankind inflicts death like second nature. They're gone, but their work is not.)

He didn't just lose his pronouns when he was punished by the council. He was fucking kicked out by the one place that still has life, that he calls home. He was discarded by his family (or as close to family as one gets).

What proceeded is worse. Introspection leads to horrifying, daunting realizations - the holy being he worships is dead, the values of the heavenly councils are dead, and now he is facing death. All that he considered as right is wrong, so he is no longer righteous (and never was). All that he believed is gone, so he is no longer the Hand of the Father (and hadn't been so for a long time). All that is inside of him is stripped away until the flesh is cold and empty.

No attachment, no identity, just a name "Gabriel" to signify the body that now walks among the masses in hell. Who will even speak of that name? What use is a name not used?

What does he see when he catches a glimpse of his own reflection?

Does he see the image of an angel? Man? Husk?

Or did it not matter, as he thinks of his demise?

Time ticks ruthlessly forward in his utter desolation.

angels r into scarification, based off of the idea that they are supposed to be pure, perfect, untouchable beings. the only thing that can touch them is the mark of the Lord , something deliberate and runs deep enough that you CAN clearly make out the rich blue hue

which is why its so embarrassing for gabriel to lose to v1, being nicked up by it & being deemed unholy, imperfect.

Also i think its fun to have the same repeating symbol. his halo & wings & scars are all vaguely 'h' shaped... :-] top surgery pattern has the shoulder of the 'h' cupping the underside of his boobs with the stem being his happy trial. YAY!

I keep thinking about the fact that it/its is considered the "default" pronoun for angels, those with no ranks that are not seen as powerful or as close to the father.

and during the 6-2 end cutscene gabriel says this.

he refers to god with the same pronouns as the lowest, most base rank of an angel in the cutscene just before he says this.

"there is no species nor origin, vested rank or holy status that will stop the sharp edge of a sword." for all intents and purposes he sees himself, the other angels, and god as being the same as he sees anyone else now. if gods power inside him, the holy light, could be defeated by a machine, whos to say that god truly is more powerful or all knowing? whos to say he is above everyone else and that his will, especially when its twisted or warped, justifies the hurt of others? the entire hierarchy of heaven doesnt make sense anymore, and maybe it never did, as everyone bleeds the same.
