Was it the first time they'd moved their beds together, against their teachers' prohibition, and talked about nonsense all night? Or was it later, at sixteen, when they'd shared a cigarette for the first time in some back alley and Nishiki had thought it was an indirect kiss? Back then, he'd choked on the smoke and coughed awkwardly, blushing embarrassingly, and Kiryu had put his palms on his shoulders, peering into his face. Or was it on Nishiki's birthday, when Kiryu h given him a silver chain with a pendant? An unexpectedly exquisite piece of jewelry. Did he choose it himself or did someone help him?
