F - Flirting: How do they flirt?

At the start, one of Shang’s favourite ways to make his intentions clear is to — weirdly enough — never once show his face. Instead, his affection is told through carefully strung words of admiration, found on lengthy scrolls that are just as intricate as his every decision. There’s also the occasional gift, but usually his words are enough to pique someone’s interest.

He does this because he loves the idea that he can toy with someone from afar. He likes the game he plays more than he might like the person he’s flirting with, actually.

He’ll show his face only when he’s ‘conditioned’ them enough. Most times he shows himself in his younger, fuller years, but if they’re into his older look, then by all means (and that’s assuming he even flirted under his own name). The snake puts extra care into his and his islands appearance for the occasion, being sure to look just as dreamy and extravagant as he might’ve mentioned in his letters to them.

Shang’s behaviour is not so different from how he interacts with business partners, only that his whispered words are far more sensual, and that his hands wander in a welcome, hypnotizing way. Ultimately he’s not in it for love — his target just had something he wanted, and this is his rather generous way of getting it.

And while he doesn’t mind the easy people, he can’t deny that he thoroughly enjoys the chase. He’s lived too many years to know that nothing is handed to him so easily, and if anything, people who fall too easily for his affections are a bit of a bore to Shang. He wants a challenge, a reason to have them on his mind for a little longer, whether it be to debate how to win the person over, or to use some other (questionable) methods to make them his.
