It was a rainy Thursday afternoon at the warm and cozy coffee shop. For the most part, it was quiet and peaceful as the sound of the rain and soft voices filled the place. The temperature in the shop was as perfect as usual, not too hot and not too cold.

Well, all until the door swung open and a girl stumbled in the shop, wet and cold. She was holding a million bags which were all dripping wet. The customers all took notice of her as she smiled sheepishly and bowed in apology.

It was like this most of the time, so the usuals in the cafe were used to it. Most days she would storm into the shop in a hurry to just get her coffee and leave. The only difference for today is that not only was she storming in, she was also drenched from head to toe.

The staff was pretty used to it as well, if not expectant of it. One of the workers in particular scoffed at her every time she came in looking like a mess. He didn’t know her job and he didn’t know why she was always rushing in, but he found it amusing every time she did.

She quickly walked to a booth to set her bags down before heading over to the desk. There was always only one cashier open at this hour, so she walked up to the cash register as always, though her slight death glare at him didn’t go unnoticed.

“I’ll have the usual,” she nodded and gave a sweet smile, “I’m not in a rush today, so take your time.”

“I wasn’t planning on rushing, anyway,” he replied as he turned his back to her to begin the process of making her complicated cup of coffee. “You should go to the back and get a towel. The boss should have one laying on the table that you can use.”

“Neh!” she smiled and nodded, practically jumping over the counter and getting it wet. “Yah!” the barista cried, “--Michi, I swear if it weren’t for you, my job would be so much easier.”

Before heading to the back, she turned around and glared at him, “My name is MariChae, not Michi! Min Yoongi, how many times do I have to tell you that?”

The barista, Yoongi, just glared back and pointed to the wet countertop, “I’ll get your name right when you stop creating problems for me.”

Mari just stuck her tongue out at him and headed to the back as Yoongi groaned and grabbed a towel to wipe off the counter. It didn’t take long for her to get back as she slid over the countertop again, leaving another mess for him to clean up.

“Aish, Michi, I don’t know what to do with you,” he grumbled and continued wiping the counter off. It didn’t take but a minute to finish as he returned to the coffee he had been making.

Mari watched him as he poured the drink into one of the coffee cups. She slowly laid down the money she needed to pay for the coffee and waited for him to turn around and hand it to her.

“You know, I just realized how picky you are,” Yoongi sighed as he placed a lid on top of her cup. Mari gave him a look as he turned around and leaned against the counter behind him.

“It’s not like I was hiding it from you,” she shrugged and leaned closer, “But that’s besides the point… I’m cold and thirsty, so can I have my coffee now?”

Yoongi rolled his eyes and placed it on the counter in front of her. “Happy now, Michi?”

Mari sighed and ignored his taunting as she grabbed and coffee and held it close to her to warm her up a little. “I don’t know why you call me that when it’s not my name~.”

Yoongi grabbed a towel and threw it over his shoulder as he grabbed the money she had placed on the counter, “Haven’t we already talked about this? Michida means ‘to be crazy’ so I think it’s very fitting.”

“But I’m not crazy,” Mari frowned playfully as Yoongi rolled his eyes and threw his towel at her.

“Say that again after you look at yourself in the mirror.” he commented as another customer came in the door. Mari looked to the door and moved away from the counter as they ordered their coffee.

“I don’t understand why you’re so mean to me Min Yoongi… I haven’t done anything to you,” she thought outloud as Yoongi just scoffed and continued working with the customer in front of him.

“You’ve done everything to me, Michi,” he mumbled as he turned around to make the customer’s coffee.

Mari glared at him in disbelief and pouted to the customer waiting for their coffee, “Aish, he’s so rude to me! It isn’t right to treat a girl this way…”

“It’s not like it’s illegal,” Yoongi commented before the customer could say anything. Mari’s eyes moved back to Yoongi as he turned around and handed the poor customer their coffee. Once the coffee was in their hand, they took off and didn’t bother looking back.

“You’re eventually gonna scare people away,” Yoongi glared at Mari, “Do you really want to jeopardize your brother’s coffee house just because you’re annoying?”

“I’m not jeopardizing anything. If anyone’s gonna take his cafe down, it’s you.” Mari gave a smile and Yoongi just rolled his eyes and looked the other way.

“You’re the only one that I treat this way, Michi,” Yoongi stated as he threw another towel over his shoulder, “Call it ‘special treatment’ if you will.”

Mari frowned and crossed her arms across her chest, “There’s nothing ‘special’ about being treated like dirt…”

“Sure there is!” Yoongi said with a smirk, “I could treat you a whole lot worse…”

Mari sighed and turned away from him, “Fine, I’ll just wait to come back and flirt with Jungkookie once his shift starts. It’s more enjoyable to talk to him anyway.”

“You do that, then…” Yoongi mumbled as Mari found his mumbling amusing. Once again the sound of the door opening could be heard as another customer walked in the door.

They walked up to the register and ordered their coffee as Mari stared at them with a look of suspicion.

They slowly turned to look at her and gave her a nervous laugh and wave. Mari sat there and just stared at them in thought as they looked back ahead of them, waiting.

“You’re going to burn a hole into her head, Michi,” Yoongi said without turning around to even look at her while making the customer's coffee. Mari looked away from the customer as they nervously laughed. “This is what I mean by scaring people away.”

“It’s alright,” the customer spoke up, “Things like that don't make me uncomfortable.”

“See!” Mari’s eyes lit up, “I’m not as bad as you think I am!” She could actually feel Yoongi’s annoyance even though he was turned around. The customer just laughed and tilted her head to the side, “Well, you’re not that bad, but I wouldn’t do that to every customer that comes in.”

“I don’t do it to every customer. I’m hardly ever in here…” Mari defended herself as the girl looked from Yoongi to Mari.

“Well then I don’t see why he’s giving you so much trouble…” the customer said as Mari nodded in agreement and took a sip of her coffee. As if on cue, the coffee machine’s light turned green and Yoongi poured it into a cup for her.

“There you go,” he said as he put in her total. “That’ll be $3.50.”

“Oh, that’s not bad,” she smiled and pulled out her wallet, “The other coffee place I used to use a lot charged 5 dollars for a small!”

“That’s why this place is better,” Mari added, “We have low prices and the best coffee in town!”

The customer laughed at Mari and grabbed her credit card back from Yoongi, “Thank you for the talk, and the coffee!”

Mari waved after her and Yoongi wiped the counter off again. Mari’s eyes moved back over to Yoongi before she remembered the bags that she left in the booth behind her. “Oh- my bags!” She jumped off the stool she was sitting on and grabbed them from the booth and put them up on the counter.

Yoongi frowned and pointed at the bags, “Those can’t stay there.” He didn’t wait for her to reply before he pulled the off the counter and put them behind it, “What are those for, anyway?”

“I just got back from a business trip,” Mari began explaining, “and Seokjin Oppa told me to come straight here to see him when I got back, so I did.” Mari grabbed her coffee and took a sip, “Though I’m surprised with how hard it’s raining… It wasn’t raining this hard when my plane landed.”

“Oh, that’s where you’ve been,” Yoongi nodded, “I kinda wish that trip lasted another week or so.”

Mari glared and him and took another sip of coffee, “And I definitely did not miss you. I wish Jungkook worked this early instead of you.”

“He does, just not every day,” Yoongi laughed, “Plus it would be a pleasure to not have to see you every morning. Seeing you first thing every day drains my energy.”

Mari ignored his comment and drank some more of her coffee, “I don’t come here to talk to you anyway. I come because I love my brother and supporting him and his coffee shop.”

“Oh please,” Yoongi rolled his eyes, “You do not come here for him, you don’t even see him every time you come in.”

“Yes I do!” Mari defended, “...and maybe also because his coffee is good… but I come here for him, too!”

Yoongi rolled his eyes and took the hat that was on his head off to fix his hair. His hair was a soft blonde and it really looked nice on him, especially when he wore black like the uniform he had on.

Mari’s mind blanked out as she watched him put his hat back on and then rest his back on the counter behind him. He sighed and blew his bangs up as he did so, moving his eyes to look at Mari. He noticed she was practically staring at him and he raised his eyebrows, feeling a smirk place on his face.

Mari seemed to be blanked out as she just continued to look at him, so he decided to mess with her.

“Are you sure you’re not just coming here to stare at me?” He asked, causing her to blink a few times and turn a little red.

“Wh-what’d you say?” She asked a little flustered. He hadn't ever really seen her this way, so he couldn't help but continue to tease her. He moved over in front over her and leaned on the counter

“Are you sure you're here just for your brother, Michi?” Yoongi smirked even more as Mari started to lean away, “There isn't any other reason you come here every morning during my shift?”

Mari quickly began to glare at him while he just found her reaction amusing, “What are you talking about max Min Yoongi? You’ve got to be really arrogant to think I come here to see you. It's not like you’re that attractive or nice to be around.”

As those last words came out of her mouth, she could feel the lie in them. He was undoubtedly attractive, and while he wasn't the best to talk to, Mari honestly enjoyed their arguing back and forth.

Though this situation was a little different.

“Oh?” Was all he said in reply as Mari tried her best to smile and nod. “You’re not very convincing.”

Mari found herself blinking in surprise while she stared at Yoongi. Since when did he get cocky and decide to tease her about something like this? This is the first time anything like this has happened, and it was really weird…

“Min Yoongi, where did this even come from?” Mari shot back, “even if I did have some kind of interest in you, why would you want to acknowledge that fact? I would think that you would act as if you knew nothing and make sure that I knew that you didn't like me.”

Yoongi shrugged and continued to mess with her. He knew she was right because he did that to girls all the time, but there was something about her that made this opportunity too good to pass.

“Why would I do that?” Yoongi asked, but Mari just glared at him. He was just trying to mess with her, and she was not putting up with that. He can insult her and call her names, but playing with her love life is something she was not willing to put up with.

“Min Yoongi,” she glared at him, “Stop it. Go back to just insulting me and telling me about how I ruin your life.”

“But how could I do that when I love you?” He raised his eyebrows and watched in amusement as Mari’s face turned a dark red. Her expressions were all over the place from mad and embarrassed, to upset and confused.

She opened her mouth and closed it a few times before she closed her eyes and thought for a second. Though, she quickly decided she didn't really want to listen to her own thoughts.

‘I just wish he wasn’t just messing with me.’

“Alright, that’s a little too far…” Mari mumbled, trying to get some coherent words out. “Haha, you’re really funny Yoongi.” She progressively got more and more upset as she thought about what he just said, “Is that what you wanted to hear from me?”

Yoongi frowned and looked down at the counter, “No, I was expecting more of an ‘I love you, too’ than a pat on the back.”

Mari glared at him and hit him with the towel that he had been using to clean the counter. “Stop it before I hurt your for real.”

“Aish,” Yoongi grumbled as he grabbed the towel and threw it on the counter behind him. He could feel his hair all in the wrong places as he took the hat off and shook his hair out. He didn’t bother to put the hat back on as he looked back at Mari, “What was that for?”

Mari glared again and reached for a sign that was sitting by the coffee table and hit him with it. “What do you mean ‘what was that for?’? Are you kidding me?”

“Is it bad that you’re fun to mess with?” Yoongi asked as he rubbed the spot on his head that she hit, “It’s not like either of us actually want anything like that.”

Mari attempted to give a quick response to cover up the fact that what he said was a lie, “Even if that was true, you don’t say those things! That’s not messing around, that’s just being straight up mean!”

“Aish, if you want I’ll apologize,” he said with an almost disgusted look on his face. “If I knew you’d be that offended I never would have said anything.”

“You shouldn’t have said anything no matter what I said!” Mari cried, not caring about the customers that were probably behind her trying to enjoy their coffee in peace.

Yoongi sighed and looked at Mari, starting to feel bad for what he said. His intentions for saying it were wrong, and he found himself not totally disgusted with the idea of loving her.

Though the fact that this thought even ran through his mind made him uncomfortable and he looked at the door to the shop, suddenly wishing that he could leave. He can’t like her; not even a little bit. It doesn’t make logical sense.

“Yoongi.” Mari called, but Yoongi didn’t bother looking at her.

“Mianhae, it won’t happen again.” Yoongi replied, move behind the register. As if a miracle happened, a group of customers entered the shop to order some coffee. Mari looked over to the door and sighed, grabbing her coffee and taking a sip. Right before they got to the register, she jumped over the counter and made sure to leave a mark as she disappeared into the back.

Yoongi spotted the muddy smudge on the counter and sighed, quickly placing the towel over the mess and then rushing back to the register to take orders.

AHH That’s the sound of me being happy that you read this, please don’t be scared. This series won’t be long at all- I think I’m only going with three parts... I might squeeze it into two. (totally did not end up being ten parts) Though, I do want to see if people like it! I’ll post the next chapter no matter what, but after being gone for so long it would be really encouraging to see that people will still read my stuff ^^; Thanks for reading!

I Hate U I Love U (Jungkook x Reader)

THIS REQUEST IS SO OVERDUE AND I AM SO SORRY FOR THE WAIT. Long story short, I was unhappy with the story and had to rewrite it like five times and then put it down for like six months before touching it again. I ended up going with alternate lyrics (from Connor Maynard’s cover) since it was shorter and easier to work with. Enough rambling~ I hope you enjoy the story!

Request: “So for Jungkook can you do a story based off the song I Hate You I Love You“ Genre: mostly angst Words: 4,000+

Feeling used but I'm still missing you And I can't see the end of this

I put my earphones in and sighed, trying to ignore the lyrics to this song. The last thing I wanted was to end up crying in the middle of the subway, so I just closed my eyes and almost decided to fall asleep to pass the time till my stop.

It was a little too relatable for my liking, but as long as I ignored it, I should be okay...

Just wanna feel your kiss against my lips

I looked at him from across the table and we sat in a comfortable silence. It had been a few minutes since either of us had said a word, but it didn’t feel awkward. He was just looking at his computer screen and I was glancing over at him. He didn’t seem to notice until I opened my mouth.

“Hey…” I trailed off, watching his eyes move to mine. His eyebrows raised and he started to play with the pencil in his hand. I looked down at my laptop’s keyboard and then back up at him. His eyes had already moved back to his screen, and my eyes trailed to his pencil he had pressed to his lips…

My face flushed and I mentally shook my head, trying to move the thought of his lips on mine out of my head. The fact that we had actually kissed before was not helping my situation, either.

“Are you almost done with the homework?” I finally finished my sentence as his attention moved back to me. The comfortable silence was turning into tension on my part, all thanks to three weeks ago… am I ever going to get over it?

“I’m almost finished,” he responded, shifting his position in his chair. I looked back to my laptop and felt my face growing hot. Seriously? Why is it getting hot in here even after I quit thinking about it?

Well… the more I think about me not thinking about it, it makes me think about it more…

“I’m done, so if you just wanna copy the rest of mine, I’m fine with it.” I shrugged, trying to act cool.

“Oh, thanks,” he smiled, nodding, “I will definitely take up on that offer.”

I laughed lightly as he grabbed my laptop and faced it toward him. It only took him about a minute to finished copying everything before he handed it back.

“You are too smart,” Jungkook shook his head. I was surprised at his random compliment as I told myself to remember he just said it to be nice.

“I’m not-”

“No! We are not having this argument while I’m sitting here staring at your homework answers. You didn’t even take that long to do it and got everything right.” Jungkook slightly glared at me. I took a deep breath and let out a small smile.

“You’re too kind,” I said in a teasing way, grabbing my laptop and closing it. I put it in my backpack and then turned back to Jungkook who was staring at me. My eyes locked on his as my nerves spiked up high on my emotional radar.

“Do you like steak?”

I blinked a few times as my eyes stayed on his. My nerves were gone as confusion set in. This is so incredibly one sided, isn’t it?

“Uh, yeah?” I said, not sure why he asked such a question so suddenly.

“You should go with me to get some tonight,” he said nonchalantly as if he normally asks people to go eat steak with him.

“You want me to go?” I asked and he nodded, “Why?”

“Well… I mean, I feel bad about what happened a few weeks ago, so I want to try and make it up to you.” A shy smile appeared on his face. I really couldn't tell what he meant by that, and it was frustrating me.

“Oh… it's alright. You don't have to do anything for me.” I tried to shrug it off, but he just shook his head.

“I can tell that it's awkward between us,” he continued smiling while scratching the back of his neck, “I want to try and break the ice between us a little bit.”

I took a deep breath and watched him carefully. He was being sincere, but I was just worried about myself. The more I spent time with him, the harder it was to forget him.

“Pick me up at 7?” I found myself saying before I was completely done thinking. My face turned red as I mentally scolded myself, but his gorgeous lips placed a smile on his face.

“I'll pick you up at 7 on the dot.”

And now all this time is passing by But I still can't seem to tell you why It hurts me every time I see you Realize how much I need you

The place around us was very nice; way too expensive for what my paycheck could buy. I was already feeling a little apologetic toward Jungkook, but he seemed to be fine with it. He called the check before I could even think about it, and he told me to order whatever I wanted. Of course I ignored what he said and ordered one of the cheapest things on the menu.

“Thanks for doing this,” I smiled nervously, and he smiled back.

“You don't have to keep thanking me,” he laughed slightly. “I did this because I really wanted to, and I didn't expect a thank you.”

“Well I'm giving them to you anyway~.” I sang slightly, causing him to laugh again and shake his head.

Our conversations were light but nice as we shared a few more laughs. I knew that the second this was over, I was going to be upset and be left with more unrequited feelings, but I was too happy in the moment to care. I was so happy being with him, and the night was nearly perfect…

“Oh s***...” Jungkook mumbled as he looked somewhere behind me. “This is bad…”

I started to turn around, but Jungkook grabbed my hand and squeezed it, causing him to get my attention and make my face heat up.

“Jungkook?” I was so confused, and he looked really frustrated.

“Why is she here?!” He whispered, closing his eyes, “if she sees me with you, we’ll be over…”

“Over? Jungkook, who is here?” I was starting to grow more and more nervous. I think I know where this is going…

“My girlfriend… she’s the one that I cheated on with you three weeks ago. She told me to never see you again, and I didn't listen… why is she here???” He was getting more and more upset. I looked down at the empty table where our food hadn't come yet, and I debated in my head. Was I willing to do that…?

“I'll just go,” I found myself saying nervously, even though I didn't have enough time to decide if I wanted to do that or not.

Well, of course I didn't want to, but I was willing to if it would make Jungkook happy.

“But… we haven't eaten yet. I can't let you leave without you eating your food.” He gave me this look that made my knees weak. I was so conflicted… what was I going to do?!

“I'll just go,” I stood up and started to hurry away. He didn't protest too much as I looked back at him. He was hugging a girl that I could only guess was his girlfriend.

I felt a shooting pain in my heart as he smiled and kissed her, letting her sit in the seat I had been in seconds ago. I tear trailed down my face as I let out a pitiful laugh. How could I be so stupid and oblivious? Why did I let my feelings get the best of me? It just made this all more painful.

But maybe it was good for me. Maybe this is the first step to moving on.

But it really doesn't feel that way.

I hate you, I love you, I hate that I love you Don't want to but I can't put nobody else above you

It was so hard to avoid him. I would see him in the distance and make an effort to find a detour through the campus. During our classes together, I made sure to get there early so that I could find a seat that he couldn't find one next to.

I didn't look at him anymore, either. It was really tempting to, but I couldn't do that to my emotional state. I wouldn't ever be able to get over him if I let my emotions get the best of me.

He tried really hard to get to talk to me, and I was well aware of that, but I made sure that thought didn't break me down. He would call my name after class, but I would rush out as fast as possible and leave him behind.

Much like our situation right now.

“_____! Hey, please slow down, I really want to talk to you!” He kept calling, but I was determined to get as far away from him as possible.

“Please! I need to talk to you!” He was crying out more than usual, but I couldn't break down…

I hate him…

I hate him……

I hate him!

“What?!” I spun around and snapped at him. Great… now I've messed up.

Despite my glare at him, he smiled softly, “God, I thought you were going to ignore me forever…”

I stayed silent and waited for him to speak for a few seconds before turning around again to walk away.

“No, wait!” he grabbed my arm and I took a deep breath. This was not good… the last thing I wanted was for him to touch me and make my heart race again.

I turned around and pulled his arm off of me. “What?” I asked yet again, and this time he was quicker to answer.

“I’m sorry for that night, _____… I didn’t know that it would make you this upset. If you want, I could take you again some time?” he offered,  but he immediately regretted it once my face twisted.

“You… you think I’d want to do something like that with you again? After what you did? After everything you’ve done?” I was so upset, and he was visibly apologetic. I couldn’t let something like this get to me…

“Why did that set you off so much?” he looked so confused, and I was struggling to keep my mind away from thoughts about how cute he looked. I had to stay strong. I couldn’t let him get to me.

“It was just a combination of everything, Jungkook.” I spat at him, “I realized that night that I was just being used by you. I was done feeling that way, so I’m done. I don’t want to see you anymore.”

Jungkook was so hurt, and it took everything in me to not break down and forgive him. I wanted to forgive him so bad, but I just couldn’t… I couldn’t do that to myself.

“Oh…” his voice sounded so upset, and I took a deep breath. I had to stay strong.

I hate you, I love you, I hate that I want you You want her, you need her And I'll never be her

As if she couldn’t have better timing, the sound of Jungkook’s girlfriend’s voice came from behind me. Jungkook’s eyes lit up, and I could feel a stab at my heart. Of course. This was always how it was. It wasn’t hard to let him go with her in the picture.

I walked off, and Jungkook didn’t really protest. I swallowed a lump in my throat as I told myself over and over again to not look back…

I hate him…

I hate him……

I hate him so much.

I could not turn my car on fast enough as I spotted him walking my direction. He was waving at my car to get me to stop, but I put my car in reverse and practically sped out of there.

(I’m switching to third person here, sorry for the POV switch!)

I miss you when I can't sleep Or right after coffee Or right when I can't eat

Jungkook looked out the window of the coffee shoppe as a sigh escaped his lips. How long had it been since she had talked to him? It would have been easier if their new college classes didn’t happen to be nearly the same once more. How cruel was life to have them sign up for the same classes almost exactly?

He watched as she walked by the coffee shoppe with a thick jacket on and gloves that matched. She turned around for a second to glance at the building he was in, and he held his breath. Part of him really hoped she walked in. Maybe she was over it by now?

It had been four months, right? Isn’t that enough time?

Deep in his mind he knew the answer, but he refused to admit it. He didn’t want to admit it.

To his delight, she decided to walk into the building and walked up to order some coffee. Her voice was so quiet and her expressions were kind and soft. A smile found its way onto his face as he watched her from a distance.

God, he missed her…

She received her coffee and thanked the workers there. He abandoned his half empty cup of coffee as he slowly walked her way.

At first she didn't notice him, but once she did, she quickly looked down. She waved slightly, but before he could say anything, she was out of the building.

He sighed and closed his eyes in disappointment. Of course she wasn't over it.

He left his coffee on the table he sat at and just left the building to head to class early.

I miss you in my front seat Still got sand in my sweaters From nights we don't remember

Once he got to his car, he couldn't help but notice her walking down the road. She was crazy to walk to school in this weather, but she rarely drove. If she was in a car, most of the time it was in his.

He looked over at his passenger's seat and sighed, shaking his head in frustration. Why was he so pathetic?

How did he screw up so bad?

Flashbacks of the night he messed up flashed before his eyes. He took a deep breath and sighed, mentally yelling at his past self.

He knew better to take her to a bar, and he knew better than to let her have a few drinks.

And he knew even more that he shouldn't have had any himself… he took advantage of her… no wonder she couldn't talk to him anymore. He’s surprised that she talked to him a few weeks after it happened.

Regardless, he messed up bad. At least he’s finally smart enough to realize how awful he had been.

Do you miss me like I miss you? Messed around and got attached to you

Despite having a girlfriend, he knew that his feelings for _____ were stronger. It wasn't a thing he realized at first, but once she was gone, it was painfully obvious.

He wished he could say it wasn’t because of messing with her, but if anything, his feelings for her grew right after that. The way she handled the situation was amazing and he respected her highly for it.

Maybe it was more because she left his side. That cliche saying said it all; You just don't know what you have until it’s gone.

He glanced her way during one of their classes, and he actually caught her glancing at him.

She immediately looked away and her face flushed, but Jungkook just smiled and laughed slightly. It was the first time he had caught her looking at him since before they became friends, and it made him happy to see.

He really missed her… he was stupid to let someone like her walk away from him.

Friends can break your heart too, And I'm always tired but never of you

After the class ended, he waited around for her. She didn't seem to notice, so she continued to take a while to get her stuff together.

After she was finally done, she headed out of the classroom, locking eyes with Jungkook right as she walked past him.

He walked with her, and she seemed really uncomfortable. He tried to not notice, but he didn't like how uncomfortable she seemed. He didn't want to be the person to make her feel that way…

“I just want to tell you something really quick…” he said, but she didn't spare any time in getting away from him.

His heart began to ache a little bit, but he tried to laugh it off. It hurt for her to ignore him, but he deserved it…

He would just have to kept trying.

If I treated you like it, you wouldn’t like that

Despite the way she acts, she knows she would rather him chase her and never give up than to leave her alone. Maybe they had hope?

Held out my hand for you, you didn’t touch that

“Baby steps, Jungkook,” he told himself as he walked into their next class, “maybe she’ll be more comfortable with me if I keep trying…”

He was quiet for a few seconds as her watched her from the doorway. How long was she going to continue pushing him away?

“Maybe…” he whispered, taking his usual seat near her, but not too close. “Baby steps…”

I wrote a text but then I deleted that

Don't do anything you’ll regret, Jungkook… just wait it out...

I got these feelings but you didn’t realize that Oh oh, keep it on the low You're still in love with me but your friends don't know If you wanted me you would just say so And if I were you, I would never let me go

Every day made it harder and harder to wait. She was still as harsh as ever, but he couldn't give up. He just couldn't give up.

“______, please just talk to Jungkook again.” He heard a voice come from behind him. His eyes widened as he slouched in his booth. Was that her friend? Was she on the phone or were they actually there?

“Jihun, that's easier said than done…” she nervously laughed.

“But he’s into you… you could even try and just get back at him for messing with you like that,” Jihun laughed, “He deserves it. You got over him, so he’s too late.”

He heard a nervous laugh in response to Jihun, “I can't do that…”

He took a deep breath and looked down at his food. She did still have feelings for him, right…?

Without thinking about it, he let a sneeze escape his body. Of course, his sneeze was one that was easy to recognize, and the two girls grew silent quickly. Great… nice going, Jungkook.

“Jungkook!” Jihun jumped up and smiled at him, “both you and _____ are here? What a coincidence!”

Without a second to lose, Jihun pulled her up and shoved her in the seat opposite of Jungkook. She tried to get out, but Jihun glared at her, so she stayed put.

“Wow! Look at the time! I've got class!” She looked at her bare wrist like it had a watch, “I'll see you two after class!”

She didn't waste a second fleeing the building, and Jungkook was left with an uncomfortable ______ in front of him.

“Hey…” he smiled softly. She refused to look at him, and he was okay with that as long as she was listening. “Would it be wrong if I tried to apologize again?”

She looked up at him a second and sighed. She looked so defeated, and he didn't like it. Maybe this wasn't a good idea…

“It's up to you.” She said quietly, shrugging her shoulders.

“I really can't explain how sorry I am…” he said with a frown on his face. She continued to watch him carefully, trying to listen to the words he was saying with an open mind.

“I want to punch myself a million times over for what I’ve done to you…” he trailed off, trying to get himself together. This could be their make it or break it moment. His and her future depended on this moment.

“I don’t expect you to be able to forgive me, nor do I think you would want to be friends with me again.” he looked at her as she glanced at her hands for a second. Once her eyes looked back up at him, he smiled sadly, “But I can only hope that you could find it in your heart to at least forgive me…”

She stayed silent as her thoughts were swirling in her head. It was everything that she ever hoped and dreamed for it; it was all right in front of her, and all she had to do was say yes. That was it.

But she knew she couldn’t do that to her heart. She couldn’t sign it up to be potentially broken again.

And she also didn’t want to put him through being with her. He may have broke her heart, but she still wanted the best for him. She knew that she wasn’t that person...

I’m just saying you could do better Tell me, have you heard that lately? I’m just saying you could do better And I’ll start hating on me if you make me

“I don't mean to make you think I'm the one for you,” Jungkook shook his head and smiled sadly, “if anything, you could do so much better than me. I hope you do.”

She let out a small huff from her nose that slightly signaled a laugh, “Jungkook, if anyone could do better, it’s you.”

Jungkook was about to argue, but she cut him off, “I don’t want you to argue with me, Jungkook.”

He frowned and stayed silent for a few seconds. For a little while, she thought he was really going to stay away from arguing with her.

“I’m the jacka** here,” he spoke after a few minutes, “I know I should stay away from you, yet here I am still begging for you to forgive me. I should just sit back and let you live your life, but I’m too selfish to even think about letting you go without fighting first.”

She felt the need to swallow the nerves in her throat as she looked at Jungkook. He was incredibly sincere, and it was killing her. She didn’t need to… but she really wanted to.

And the longer she looked in his eyes, it was harder for her to not forgive him.

“For the record…” she took a deep breath, “I’m not saying this because of what Jihun said earlier… I would never try and hurt your feelings the way she would do to her exes…”

Jungkook tried not to seem hopeful at all as her eyes moved from him to the table and back to him.

“But I’ll give you a chance. Just as friends, though.” she finished, finding it hard to move her eyes away from Jungkook. His face turned up into a smile as a smile started to form on her face, too. He was so cute even when he wasn’t trying to be.

“I swear I’ll be a better friend to you than I’ve ever been in my life,” he tried to hold back his excitement as she tried to hide the blush that was forming on her face, “And I won’t ever try anything on you. Not unless you would want me to.”

“Jeon Jungkook,” she scolded with a red face. He could tell she liked that comment more than she would ever admit, “watch it.

Jungkook tried to hold back some laughs as he just smiled at her and bit his lip, “I missed you. It’s good to have you back.”

I’m not going to lie, it was HARD writing this. The lyrics were hard to write for (mainly the original song’s lyrics) and I had issues deciding how to end it. I hope the ending isn’t trash because of that x.x But thank you for reading this long overdue story. I doubt the person who requested it will see this, but I hope you like it if you do see this!

Jerk Barista (AU!Yoongi x OC) Part 6

I wish I could say this was nearing to the end, but I’m probably going to have up to 10 parts in this one like my last story... I hope no one minds! I’m almost done as to what all I’ve written, but it’ll be a while until that is posted, because I’ve neglected posting parts for so long on this.

Genre: still angst Words: 1,400+ First - Part 5 - Part 7

When Yoongi walked into the building, he was already in a sour mood. He was trying to calm down, but he just continued to grow more and more frustrated at everything that had happened

While he felt super annoyed, when Mari walked out to the front, he could feel most of it melting away. She looked all worn out and upset; nothing like she did yesterday.

His frustration turned to worry as he began thinking about his work day ahead of him. He was stuck here with her all day since he didn’t have to work his second job. Mari didn’t seem any more thrilled than she was at this fact, and they both just wanted to shrivel out of existence.

The pre-opening cleanup had been taking longer than usual, and the place was totally silent, save for the loud machines and air conditioner around them.

“You need to get the creamer packets back out,” Mari broke the silence as Yoongi’s heart jumped at the sound of her voice. She definitely wasn’t the person she was yesterday.

“I’ll get that in a second,” he quietly replied as he finished wiping off the counter.

There was another silence as the two of them finished up the preparations for opening. Yoongi started to get really nervous and upset as he noticed Mari was avoiding him. They were about to open in a minute, and she totally out of it, as was he.

Before he could even try and say anything, Mari sighed and started to put her hair in a ponytail. Yoongi watched her silently as she finished and then put her hat on, her eyes moving to his. She raised her eyebrows and Yoongi looked away, taking a deep breath to calm his nerves.

He cared way too much about this situation, and he wasn’t dealing with it well.

“I’m going to go turn on the open signs,” Mari told Yoongi as she once again jumped over the counter to get out from behind it. Yoongi just silently watched her as she turned on the electronic signs and flipped the one on the door to say “open.”

She turned around and headed back behind the counter, careful to not get her shoes on the counter. Yoongi just continued watching her. He wanted to talk to her, but it was so hard to talk to her. He didn’t know where to start, and he didn’t want to let his sour emotions get to him. He wasn’t used to being put in this situation. Normally it was the girl(s) that were after him that liked him rather than the other way around.

“Mari…” Yoongi mumbled, but she didn’t act like she even heard him. “Can you please listen to me?”

“We just opened up. We’ll probably have customers coming in.”

“Mari, please,” he sounded a lot more desperate than he would have liked, “I really messed up, okay? I don’t express my emotions well, and it’s not helping that you won’t listen to me.”

Mari’s eyebrows raised and she turned to Yoongi, “You want me to listen to you? You really want me to listen to you? Well, if you’re not going to listen to me, then why the heck would I listen to you?”

Yoongi took a deep breath so that he didn’t start yelling, “You haven’t exactly tried to say anything.”

Mari just sighed and rubbed her forehead as if it would help her current mood in any way.

“I’m sorry,” He sighed, “I can’t help what I’ve already done, and I can’t help the fact that Jimin is my friend. I can’t help the fact that my friends don’t really know what has gone on in my life the past few years. It’s not like I set you up on the date with him.”

Mari still didn’t say anything as Yoongi could feel himself growing really impatient.

“I’ve already thrown all my dignity on the ground for you, is there anything else you want from me?”

Mari was getting really annoyed with what he was saying, “Really? You’ve thrown your dignity away? How the h*** have you done that?”

Yoongi tried his hardest to keep from yelling at her, “You would know if you listened!”

Mari took a deep breath and closed her eyes, looking away from him. She moved in front of the register, “This was a bad idea. I can’t be around you or near you without you somehow messing up my life. I’m sorry, Min Yoongi, but this won’t work.”

Yoongi couldn’t help but get mad at this point, “It’s not my fault things happened this way! Blame Taehyung for telling you to go out with Jimin! It’s not like I’m setting out to ruin your life. I didn’t even want you to go on that stupid date in the first place!”

Mari felt tears burning her eyes, but she tried her hardest to not let them fall. “It wasn’t you who organized it, but you’re the reason why Jimin won’t give me a chance! If you could just get over me and find someone else you can emotionally abuse, that would be great.”  Mari snapped back, ripping off her hat and throwing it at him.

“I’ve been nothing but nice to you since I saw you again and this is how you’re treating me?!” Yoongi cried as she started to jump over the counter. After she was over, she turned around and looked at him, tears starting to fall down her face.

“I’m not strong, Min Yoongi. I can’t trust people easily anymore, and it’s because of you. I felt so used- I felt like you actually had feelings for me before. You treated me different than other girls, and I thought it meant something good. I really thought it was a good thing.

“You would tease me, and I’d heard all my life that it meant a guy likes you if they teased you! I started to think that maybe you felt the same way, so I started to look forward to seeing you, even if we just argued the whole time. It seemed so fairytale-esque, and I guess it was all just in my head. I can’t even begin to explain how deep it hurt me that you took love as a joke. It made me realize that this whole time it was all one sided, and I felt humiliated.

“I thought that getting away from you would help, but I guess I just didn’t get far enough away from you, because you’re still effecting my life, anyway. I can’t do this anymore, Yoongi. I can’t take us being near each other. It would ruin me emotionally.”

Mari wiped some tears from her face as she turned around and took a deep breath. She didn’t want to look at him any longer, she just wanted out.

“Have a nice life, Min Yoongi.” Mari said as she walked out the door.

Yoongi had nothing to say in response as he watched her walk out the door. That was it. That was probably the last he would see of her, and he could say that he was totally fine with it.

The door opened again as a customer walked in, and he walked to the register to get ready to take her order.

The customer walked up to the register, but when she looked at him to give him her order, her face filled with concern. “Are you alright? You seem to be crying...”

Yoongi quickly wiped his face and found the tear that had made it’s way out of his eye. How long had it been since he last cried? “Oh, I’m sorry. I’ll be fine. What can I get for you?”

The customer ordered and left soon after, telling him that she hoped his day would get better. He bowed slightly and thanked her, watching her exit the store. It wasn't long after that he felt another tear trailing down his face. He quickly wiped it and took a deep breath, feeling another. They started coming faster as he started to get frustrated, wiping them away as fast as he could.

After a few minutes, they still hadn’t stopped. The longer it was since she had left, the more tears fell, and he hated it. He hated feeling this way, and he felt pathetic. He was ready to get over her. If she was gone for good, it didn’t make sense to cry about her.

From then on, he swore that he was done with her. If she didn’t need him, he certainly didn’t need her.

Another part done! I’m still having scheduled posts for this story every morning at 10am(CT) and I’ve got a good few more days worth! I hope you stay tuned for those coming up!

Genre: angst yet again with some awkward squeezed in Words: 1,600+

First - Part 6 - Part 8

⇨ Masterlist ⇦

“I told you no,” Yoongi sighed and rubbed his forehead in frustration, “If I wanted a girl I would get out of here and find one.”

Jimin and Taehyung were sitting across from him in the booth they were sitting in. The three of them were hanging out at Jimin’s parent’s restaurant, which had become fairly regular for them to do. Normally Jungkook and/or Hoseok would join them, but neither of them were available. Jungkook was on a date with his new fiance and Hoseok was busy at work.

Taehyung leaned his head back against the booth’s cushion as Jimin sighed, “Hyung, it’s been year since you’ve last tried dating someone. Just because that last girl was clingy… and slightly crazy, doesn’t mean that every girl is like that. That’s why you don’t pick up girls in the bar when you’re drunk.”

“I’m single by choice,” Yoongi shook his head, “And I don’t understand why you guys have so much of a problem with it.” He took a sip of his drink as Taehyung and Jimin looked to each other, both concerned for their friend.

“It’s just because it’s been… six years since then.” Jimin slightly mumbled, trying not to talk about it too much, “and it’s like ever since you’ve been more cold hearted towards girls than before. I thought you would be over it by now-”

Yoongi shot a glare in Jimin’s direction, “I’ve been over it for years. That’s why I don’t want to date, because I’m done with what love does to people. It feels awful and I hate it. You guys can get all the girlfriends you want, but I’m content with being alone.”

Taehyung started playing with the rim of his drink, “Hyung… you are 100% over her, correct?”

“Correct.” Yoongi said without missing a beat. He grabbed one of the fries from the basket in front of them and dipped it in ketchup.

Jimin grabbed a fry as well, “Okay, then you won’t really care when we tell you that she’s back in town?”

Yoongi’s whole being froze as Jimin’s words as he had to remind himself to breath. She was back? After being gone for 6 years, she just randomly comes back?

It sounded selfish of her to do that to him.

“She’s in town to stay, too.” Taehyung added, “But we’ll spare you the details. I just know she’s moving back in with Seokjin to help him run the shop like when you used to work there.”

Yoongi took a deep breath and then continued with eating his fry, “That’s good for her. I don’t know why I needed to know this. I don’t care whether she’s here or in Alaska feeding Polar Bears.”

“Wait-” Taehyung held up his hand, “Alaska has polar bears?”

“You need to know,” Jimin ignored Taehyung, “because I would rather you be prepared than to run into her on the street and be surprised that she’s there.”

Yoongi just shrugged, “I probably wouldn’t have even noticed if she was here. I hardly talk to Seokjin anymore, so it’s almost like him and his family are on another planet from me.”

Taehyung grabbed a fry, “You’ll be seeing her for sure. Seokjin’s new place is in our building you know.

“Sh*t,” Yoongi mumbled, “I forgot about that.”

Jimin started to feel a little worried as he watched his friend, “They’re not on the same floor as you and I, but they’ll be on the same floor as Taehyung and Jungkook… if that helps at all.”

Yoongi just shrugged, “I don’t care all that much at this point. I just want it clear that I don’t want seeing her to become often. I don’t like the idea of being around her right now.”

Taehyung nodded, “Neh, we’ve already talked about this. Even Jungkook is updated on all of this, so it shouldn’t be an issue.”

“Good,” Yoongi sighed, “The last thing I want is my past knocking on my door.”

It was roughly 9:00pm on a Wednesday night, which is when Jimin or Yoongi normally stopped by the store to get a few things for the week. It was Jimin’s week this Wednesday, which made Yoongi feel so relieved. It had been a long day at work, and the day just seemed like it was dragging on for forever. Everyone was trying to meet deadlines for tracks they were wanting reviewed, which included Yoongi.

He was tempted to do some editing even after he got home, but the couch was way too inviting for that to even be possible. He hadn’t been home for more than ten minutes before he was laying on that couch with his eyes closed, waiting for Jimin to get home with the food.

After a few minutes, there was a knock on the door. Yoongi knew it wasn’t Jimin because he wouldn’t knock, and he was too lazy to really care who else it could be.

That was until he actually opened the door and saw who was on the other side.

It was that moment when Yoongi’s own words passed through his mind, “The last thing I want is my past knocking on my door.”

When he said that, he didn’t mean it literally, but apparently, the world did.

Because the next thing he knew, he had a crying, drunk Mari sitting on his living room couch.

He didn’t know what to do in the slightest, because not only was Mari in his living room, she was also drunk and crying. Well, not only was she drunk and crying, but just the fact that she ended up there was something really confusing.

“I… I made a mistake,” she sniffed, slurring out her words, “I shouldn’t have married him, Yoongi. I shouldn’t have.”

Whoa, married? He was caught off guard at her words, but he didn’t say anything. If he did, she wasn’t in her right mind, anyway. She probably wouldn’t remember a thing by the time morning came.

Plus he didn’t even have the ability to speak at this point. The whole situation was too weird for him to process, and he didn’t like any of the thoughts he was having around her. He didn’t like seeing her in front of him again, resurfacing old feelings that he pushed out a long time ago.

“Why aren’t you saying anything?!” she suddenly cried out, which cause Yoongi to jump and his attention to move back to her. She looked horrible in her current state, and he started to feel pity for her. What could have possibly happened to her for her to end up this way?

This is your fault, Yoongi’s inner monologue started to pitch into his thoughts, if you hadn’t broken her heart those years ago, she wouldn’t have run so far away to get away from you.

He started to curse at himself in his head as he attempted to force those thoughts out of his head. It’s not his fault. He tried to apologize and she just shut him down before he could get a single word in.

“Yoongi!” Mari cried, throwing her head into her hands, “Yoongi, why did things end up this way? Why didn’t I stay here? Why did I leave you?! Why didn’t I realize the mistake in marrying someone when I knew I didn’t love them as much as I love you?!”

Yoongi swallowed his nerves and took a deep breath, trying to decide what to do. He didn’t know what to say! What do you say to a person you haven’t seen in 6 years because they ran away from you?

“Speak to me, da** it!” she let out another sob, “Don’t just watch a girl cry in front of you!”

“What do you want me to say?” Yoongi finally spoke up, causing Mari to visibly calm down. Her sobs lessened and she let out a small smile that looked funny because of her intoxication.

“I want you to say you love me, still…” she looked down at the floor and the laid down on the couch with a sigh, “I want you to save me from him. I don’t want to see him ever again. He hurt me way more than you ever could.”

Yoongi once again swallowed his nerves, but he noticed that she was falling asleep. He didn’t bother to say anything else, fearing he’d wake her up. He looked behind him to see if he had left a blanket on the back of the loveseat he was sitting on, but he didn’t see one. Sighing, he got up very quietly and retrieved a blanket from his room.

He lightly placed it over her as she lightly stirred to get more comfortable. Yoongi watched her carefully, jumping when her eyes opened and looked at him.

“Mianhae,” she slurred, “Please forgive me for what I’ve done.”

With that, she fell right asleep. She was out cold, so much so that Yoongi accidentally dropped his can of soda on the ground near her, and she didn’t flinch. Ridding of the can with a string of mumbled curses, he made his way back into his room and closed the door.

He was about to lay down in his bed and just fall asleep, cause after the night he’s had, he was more than ready for sleep. Though, in the back of his mind, he felt like staying in his room with her laying out there was rude.

He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, deciding to just sleep in the living room tonight. He’ll be woken up by Jimin to explain everything, anyway.

Sorry to leave off in a cliff hanger like that (like I haven’t already lol) but more will be posted soon! Hopefully tomorrow at 10am(CT) but no promises because it’s not finished yet...
