POV: you're training for your first mission with the men of letters. You spent the last 20 minutes walking the rest of the way from the car to the shooting range. Its an open Kansas field, with targets at varying distances. The wind picks up, brushing your hair off of your shoulders.

"You ready?" your partner and trainer for the day, Arthur Ketch askes you. He drops the large case on the ground and starts setting the gun onto it's tripod.

After he's explained all the parts of the weapon to you, he invites you to kneel down and line the cross hairs up to a target. Another chill late September breeze billows past you. You steady the weapon in your hands and feel Arthur's palm on your back, keeping you grounded. you try to brush past the feelings his touch stirred in you.

"getting a little friendly?" You asked, when the wind dipped down and you could speak over it.

"just a little. you know, we're going to be playing the part of a couple for this mission. Do you think you'll be ready for that?"

"Oh please Arthur," you reply, your low back still burning under his touch "I've faked it with plenty of bigger assholes than you."

"Fine," he relented, removing his hand. you missed it immediately, but you couldn't show it. There would be plenty of times to play at being Ketch's girl, later, when you could blame the mission on it.

but the wait was going to be agony.
