2017 BBMAs TO 2020 BBMAs, WHAT A JOURNEY!

BTS & ARMYs got laughed at for trying so hard for what others called a ‘paper award’ but look at how far that award no one cared for, pushed these 7 boys to worldwide stardom. 

In 2017, ARMYs spammed the BBMAs and asked them to invite BTS, after calls, tagging, emails and many petitions … they finally did but BTS didn’t perform, they were just there to receive (hopefully) the award. People thought we had no pride and the fact that we thought BTS, 7 Asian boys from a small agency in South Korea, would ever make it in the US market was insane and stupid. 

At that time, even BTS didn’t think they would make it but those boys are even to this day too humble to realize their worth. But ARMYs saw in BTS what prejudice hide from others. We decided to prove everyone wrong, but we also knew that even if BTS went to a US award show it wasn’t enough. Thus, we bought tickets to the award show and filled the place, went to the red carpet and filled it too, so when others’ heard us scream BTS’ name they were shocked and finally people started asking: “Who is BTS?” Next, we called and asked talk shows to invite the boys while they were in the US. Sent flowers, donuts, cupcakes… to radio stations and hosts. Fought against journalists that wrote articles that belittled the boys. And so so so on.

Now let’s look at the present. Today, BTS won that once mocked award (Top Social Artist) AGAIN for the 4th year in a row. For the 2020 BBMAs, they performed in the largest airport in S.Korea (Incheon Airport) their hit single ‘Dynamite’ (Got #1 Billboard Hot 100 for weeks). The small company that debuted BTS is now worth billions. ARMY that many derided is now smarter, bigger and more influential than any other fandom in the whole world. 

They said we threw our pride to the ground 4 years ago, but we put our bets on BTS and look at how they took it right to the very top. How proud do I feel as an ARMY? Hard to describe the taste of glory after a long battle, but it’s very bitter-sweet. The scars are there but the look of smiles on both BTS & my ARMY family can heal it all. We once hoped together for better days while singing 2! 3! And after 7 years of walking this road with BTS, it did … it really did.
