anyone else think that leander and alchemist mc would have such a wild dynamic

like you have the alchemist who was taken in as a child by a talented exiled mage. she took pity on them because of their curse and taught them everything she knew. it must’ve been so wonderful to finally have a home, a teacher, after everything they’d been through. it was almost too good to be true

and then they found out that she just saw them as a test subject

so the alchemist runs away to eridia in hopes of discovering a cure, and finds a talented mage who is willing to help them. he gives them room and board, offers them drinks, encourages them to come to him when they need a reprieve. all free of charge. it’s wonderful to know a friendly face in a strange place, to have made a possible friend. it’s almost too good to be true
