I Feel Like This Has Something To Do With The Education System. University/college Is Really Different

i feel like this has something to do with the education system. university/college is really different from high school, which would lead some students, who thrived in high school to feel really burnt out and not do well in university/college, while kids who literally suffered in high school would do extremely well in post secondary. this would have something to do with how different annabeth and Percy are. annabeth needs approval and validation, which she would receive in a normal high school setting. there are also teachers who remind you of upcoming deadlines, so its easier to keep track of things. on the other hand, Percy does well when he's on his own. he constantly got Cs and Ds because of how much pressure he had and because his teachers convinced him that he was incapable of doing anything (this is something that most, if not all, neurodivergent kids face). he had people constantly telling him what to do, and what not to do, so when he started going to college, he was able to start doing things himself.

while most readers think percy is dumb, he really is not. he just needs to find something he's good at, and once he gets in his element, he thrives in it. they both have ADHD, and as someone with ADHD, it feels l need someone to tell me exactly what to do, while at other times, I'm really independent and need to do everything myself. when I'm doing something i LOVE, I can spend hours doing it and I don't need any guidance, because its something that comes naturally to me. now that Percy doesn't have to study everything, and he can focus on what he loves and enjoys, he can do really well.

it's so surreal to live in a time where the cast, but especially jensen, is just openly talking about destiel in a way that doesn't seem uncomfortable. like he said that the confession was 100% romantic and dean knows it. he's answering questions about destiel from deans point of view. no more dancing around the topic or things being "open to interpretation." if you told me in 2016 that this would be happening i would probably laugh at you
