Gaara's arc is basically the thesis of Naruto's whole philosophy.

Because sure, Naruto touched and changed people before and after Gaara, but none so profoundly.

Gaara starts out so lost, so cruel and hateful. He does monstrous things... But Naruto sees through it all to the hurt, lonely little boy behind the monstrous mask, and his empathy for Gaara changes everything.

Gaara is SO SHOOK by the idea that love doesn't have to hurt, that it can make you stronger, that he completely alters his worldview and path in life ON THE SPOT.

That is Naruto's real victory-- but then Gaara takes that change of heart and *runs with it*.

He takes what Naruto shows him and he puts in the work. He starts off by repairing his relationship with his siblings, and then he just *keeps going*. He proves himself to everyone, he becomes the goddamn Kazekage, and suddenly the boy who believed he had to kill others in order to feel alive is sacrificing himself for love of his village.

Then, the same lost, lonely child who couldn't comprehend the idea of having someone precious to protect rallies all the shinobi nations together under one banner, healing generational wounds and leading an entire war effort just so he can protect the person who is most precious to him. Just so he can protect his first friend.

What a character arc. I love him.

Izumi tilted her head in slight confusion, unaware of how erotic her words had sounded.

“T-tease? Me?”

Her breath caught in her throat as she felt his lips linger near her ear and plant a kiss to the sensitive skin of her neck. A shiver ran down her spine at his electric touch, forcing her body against his. Skin to skin.

“W-well, you are… Very handsome and you have an especially kind heart. So, to answer your question… I-I would have to say yes, Keitaro.”

She inhaled deeply, wondering exactly what the samurai, as well as herself, was thinking. Was he attracted to her too, even if he couldn’t see her? Why was she so fascinated by him? Why did she want to get closer? It was like her body was reacting faster than her brain, which is not ideal for a shinobi. In the moment, though, Izumi didn’t care.

Izumi blinked a few times, mentally slapping herself for being so foolish.

“Think, Izumi. Think!” Her inner monologue practically shouted at her as she reached for Keitaro’s hands and guided them towards her body.

“Here, I’ll put your hands on my shoulders and you can turn me around when you’re ready.”

She hummed happily once his hands were securely on her shoulders, a shy smile tugging on her lips.

This was a whole new experience for the female Uchiha. If her Mother knew that she was at a bath-house with a complete stranger, she would lose her mind, even though Izumi was an adult. Her Mother was strict, to say the least, and still acted as if her daughter was a mere child. Alas, Izumi did her own thing and was authentically herself. And right now, she was captivated by the kind-natured samurai in his birthday suit standing behind her.
