the train was packed today, every seat had a passenger, and standing space was very limited. you felt like a canned sardine being stuffed body to body in the train car. you tried to grip onto the overhead handrail when the train lurched forward, you lost your balance causing you to fall into the person behind you.

thankfully the person caught you before you hit the ground, you knew it would’ve been a hard fall.

strong arms wrapped around your waist, “don’t worry, i got you” you took a sharp breath in, feeling dazed by the masculine voice speaking lowly into your ear. the man helped you right yourself, still keeping a steady hand on your waist as you got readjusted.

feeling completely mortified, you turned to face the man to apologize for your clumsiness. all coherent thoughts came to a complete halt when your gaze finally met his. you were in absolute awe of the beautiful stranger that kept a protective hand over your waist. the man had sharp masculine features while carrying an air of elegance at the same time, the combination created an intoxicating aura that made your head spin.

the man raised a brow, staring at you quizzically as he tried to read your face. you stared into his grey eyes still not being able to form words, time seemed to slow around the two of you.

the train reached its next stop, many passengers shuffled out of the sliding doors allowing you more space to breathe.

his words broke you out of your daze, “hey, are you okay?”

you tried to laugh off your embarrassment, “oh! ha, yeah i’m okay, sorry for falling all over you. i’m usually more careful than that.”

a smile tugged at the corner of the man's lips, “no apologies necessary, it was so trouble at all.” his hand left your side as he reached for his discarded book on the ground. “though, you did make me lose my place, and it was just getting good” he said teasingly, as he flipped through the pages.

you laughed at his jest, “well in that case i can assure you, an apology is definitely necessary. let me buy you a coffee, that would surely make up for it.”

the man looked at you thoughtfully, as you prayed that he would take you up on your offer.

time seemed to slow once again as you waited for his response.

the train jutted forward again, on its way to the next stop. the man instinctively grabbed onto your waist afraid that you would lose your balance. you eyes went wide as you fell into his embrace, his lips hovered just above yours.

“i’m not big on coffee, can we do tea instead?”

you let out a sigh of relief, “tea works for me.”

the man hummed at your response.

the man guided you off the train at the next stop, “before we share a cup of tea, i suppose i should introduce myself properly, i’m levi. and you are?”

the night air was crisp on your skin. thankfully you thought to drag the quilt off of Levi’s bed on your way out the window.

this was your favorite spot, the shingled roof right outside of Levi’s chamber window had the best view of the night sky.

he’s probably looking for you right about now but you couldn’t bring yourself to care.

god.

you were just to tired of playing this game with him, never knowing what he is thinking or how he feels. you knew he had his reasons to keep his guard up, but none of his reasons had anything to do with you.

your done. you have officially given up on Levi.

as soon as you concluded that thought a throat clears behind you,

“ahem.. so this is where you’ve been hiding out, i should have known”

you don’t bother turning to face him.

you know exactly who it is, you would recognize that voice anywhere.. that voice you have grown to love so much.

a puzzled look settles on Levi’s face as he climbs out the window to take a seat next to you.

“don’t.”

“don’t what?” he says as he takes a seat next to you.

you finally turn to face him, just seeing that familiar stoic gaze almost makes you falter over your words.

“just… i just don’t want to see you right now” wrapping your arms around your knees bringing them to your chest to feel a sense of security.

“you do know that you broke into my room and stole my quilt right”

“yes well i can’t get this view anywhere else” you say as you lay your chin on top of your knees refusing to meet his hard gaze

“your angry with me” he says flatly trying to decipher the look on your face

“so perceptive” you said already having grown tired of the conversation

“tch. alright” he says as he quickly stands dragging you up with him.

“hey! what the fuck!” you say as he drags you back in through his bedroom window

swiftly bringing you to the bed setting you on the edge and kneeling between your legs.

why does he look so worried? you think.

you’ve never seen his face contort into such a position.

“tell me.”

“what?”

“tell me why you are angry” he says as he places his palms on top of your knees.

you take a quick breath in, not expecting this reaction out of him.

his brows furrow waiting for your response.

“i’m tired Levi, fuck i’m so tired. i can’t keep doing this. i can’t keep going through my days not knowing what we are, or how you even feel about me” you say as the moonlight pours in through the window. you feel tears welling up behind your eyes. you quickly close your eyes trying to prevent them from falling.

a knowing look settles on Levi’s face as he quickly stands gathering your hands in his. you finally look up at him with tear filled vison.

Levi let’s out a strangled breath his next words are going to be difficult to get out.

“im sorry, fuck. i am such an idiot”

your tear filled gaze still on him as he looks down at his hands tangled with yours.

“i’m bad with words, but that’s no excuse. i’m sorry i should have told you a long time ago how i feel.”

he lets out another strangled breath as he runs his thumb over your knuckles.

“i uh.. we’ll i love you”

the words fell over you so quickly you had no time to understand their meaning.

you continue to stare at Levi as your tears finally fall.

“fuck. i love you. i love you.” he says as he releases your hands to cup your face.

you notice a single tear falling onto Levi’s cheek as he quickly gathers you up in his arms.

you finally understand. he loves you too.

both your your lips meet in a desperate attempt to make up for the lost time.

Could I request a Levi x Reader drabble where reader always overthinks and has anxiety but doesn't tell Levi about it and holds it in because they think that their anxiety and overthinking will make him want to leave them. a/n: was gonna do a modern au but this felt really fitting for the canonverse

you knew levi already had so much to worry about on his own, you never wanted to bother him with your issues. it was always the worst after a mission, it’s like your body doesn’t understand that the fighting is over, and your nervous system just keeps pumping adrenaline throughout your body.

you made a b-line straight for your quarters as soon as the horses were settled, not waiting for a debriefing. you hoped that the solitude of your bed chamber would calm you, but your chest only got tighter, as your hands kept at their persistent shaking.

you sank to the floor, while anxiety consumed your mind. with tears streaming down your face, you buried your face into your lap, forming into a ball of emotions on the floor.

your whole body was shaking when you heard footsteps approaching your door, you knew exactly who those footsteps belonged to. everything about levi was very distinct, including the sounds his boots made against the stone floor.

shit. shit. shit. he can’t see me like this. i can’t be just another burden to him.

he knocked with one knuckle as his voice came through the door, “it’s me, can i come in?” his voice carried a softer tone than usual.

you attempted to even out your voice, “no! i’m not decent!” you cringed when your voice came out thick with emotion.

levi didn’t heed your warning, stepping inside anyway. immediately sinking to his knees in front of you, levi pried your hands off your face, ignoring your resistance. the last thing you wanted was for levi to see you in the state that you were in.

your tear filled eyes finally met his worried gaze, levi felt some relief now that he could see your face, he so desperately wanted to make you feel better no matter what the cause for your distress was.

levi reached for your hand, and brought it to cradle his face while placing his hand on top, in an attempt to ground you back into reality.

you tried to pull your hand away, feeling deeply embarrassed by allowing yourself to be seen in such a vulnerable state. levi’s hand didn’t budge, holding yours in place still cradling his face.

“please just go, i really don’t want you to see me like this.” you said as you clamped your eyes shut, in attempt to withhold your tears.

levi shifted your whole body so that your back could rest on his chest, his arms held you tightly. “shhh.. i’m not going anywhere.” levi placed a kiss atop your head, “i’m here, i’m here” he said as he softly rocked your body in his arms.

finally feeling a sense of safety, you relaxed into his embrace.
